New York lawmakers passed bill S8877.
It targets “ghost jobs” — fake job postings that companies post but never plan to fill.
Companies with 100 or more employees and job websites must clearly say if the job is real and when they expect to hire.
If the job is for a current opening, they must state the date they want to fill it (within 90 days).
They must remove the ad within 2 weeks after filling the position.
Breaking the rule can lead to fines of $2,500 per bad ad.
The bill is now waiting for Governor Kathy Hochul to sign it into law.
Goal is to stop companies from collecting resumes for no reason or making it look like they are hiring when they are not.

(From the Brave browser )
The Cotton Club in New York City during the 1930s was owned by gangster Owney "The Killer" Madden.
Although the club was located in Harlem and featured almost exclusively Black talent (including legends like Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway), it was a segregated venue where Black patrons were initially banned from entering. Madden, a prominent Irish-American mobster, took over the club in 1923 when he bought the lease after a rival gangster was sentenced to prison. He operated it under the name "Cotton Club" from 1923 to 1936 at its original location on 142nd Street, before it moved to midtown Manhattan in 1936, still under his management until it eventually closed in 1940.
