The Fed spent years shrinking its balance sheet through quantitative tightening.
Then QT ended in late 2025.
Now the Fed’s balance sheet is around $6.7 trillion and has started growing again through Treasury bill purchases designed to keep enough reserves in the banking system.
Supporters call this normal reserve management.
Critics call it “stealth QE.”
The numbers are what make people pay attention.
Recent purchases have been running around $10 billion to $40 billion per month, which puts the pace around roughly $120 billion per year depending on the month.
The Fed says the goal is not an emergency bailout like 2020.
The goal is keeping liquidity available while the Treasury market handles a massive amount of new debt issuance and refinancing.
And that is where the uncomfortable question appears.
The Treasury is facing trillions of dollars in debt rollovers, including estimates of around $9 trillion in government debt maturing over the next year, plus additional borrowing to cover deficits.
Someone has to absorb that supply.
The concern from critics is that the Fed becomes the buyer of last resort when private demand is not strong enough at current rates.
The strange part?
Stocks are near record highs.
Credit spreads remain tight.
But inflation is still above the Fed’s 2 percent target, with recent inflation pressure pushed higher by energy.
So the question becomes:
Is the Fed still focused only on fighting inflation?
Or is it also trying to keep the government debt machine running smoothly?

FDA Saw Child Vaccine Death Concerns Then The Warning Never Appeared

Sen. Ron Johnson released internal FDA emails showing agency staff were reviewing reports involving children who died after receiving COVID vaccines.
According to the documents, FDA staff looked at around 10 child death cases. Later, the number considered “assessable” was reduced to 7.
Then comes the part that raises eyebrows.
FDA staff recommended updating Pfizer and Moderna vaccine labels to mention “myocarditis with fatal outcomes.”
But that label change never happened.
At the same time, the CDC purchased about $1.24 billion more Pfizer vaccines.
That combination is why this story is getting attention.
The question people are asking is not just “what happened in these cases?”
It is why internal discussions about possible risks appear different from the public messaging.
Supporters of the agencies will point out that official reviews have consistently said the benefits of COVID vaccination outweigh the risks for most people, and serious complications in children remain very rare.

The City Council on Wednesday voted down the latest bid by Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th) to hold parents responsible for teen takeovers and youth violence in Chicago. Lopez first introduced the Parental Accountability Ordinance in 2023, but it stalled for years
The new version of the Parental Accountability Ordinance would:
Require up to 75 hours of community service for a child who breaks curfew rules, or hit that minor’s caregiver with a $1,000 fine — up from a $5,000 fine.
Impose a possible $10,000 penalty on the parents of anyone under 18 who flips a vehicle.
Also impose a $10,000 fine for parents of kids who climb on, jump on, or cling to other people’s cars.

A trove of internal records from a secret society for powerful figures in US politics, finance, and tech was left exposed online, WIRED has confirmed, naming participants in its events and revealing sensitive personal details they were assured would stay private.
The group, called Dialog, is a private, invitation-only organization cofounded in 2006 by the billionaire tech investor Peter Thiel. It convenes US officials, foreign government figures, and Silicon Valley executives at off-the-record annual retreats. Dialog has spent two decades declining to disclose its members.
A directory in the website’s code was first revealed by the Swiss hacktivist maia arson crimew. Known for exposing the US government’s No Fly List and breaching the surveillance-camera company Verkada, crimew tells WIRED the directory surfaced via an anonymous tip. WIRED independently verified its contents.
A source separately provided WIRED with the registration list for Dialog’s 2026 retreat, which names 222 people and records what the list describes as each registrant’s membership status and attendee type, including “active member” and “guest.” The retreat is scheduled for August 12-16 at a venue near Dublin, Ireland.
The same data lays out a program of off-the-record sessions, including: “Money (Does?) Buy Happiness,” “Bring Back Nuclear,” “Navigating WWIII,” “Battlefield Technologies,” and “How’s Your Sex Life?” Other talks include “Build-a-Cult,” moderated by the founder of the Christian networking site Pray.com, and “Build-a-Party,” run by a former White House national security official.
Together, alongside the mundane fare of a typical thought leadership conference, the documents show an extraordinary convergence of power. The registration records list General Alexus Grynkewich, NATO’s supreme allied commander Europe and the head of US European Command, who took the post in July 2025 and is recorded on the leaked list as having attended Dialog gatherings since 2021. The website directory names sitting Trump administration officials, two US senators, six members of the Paypal Mafia, a former Middle East chief of intelligence, and a sitting ambassador to the United States, along with the founders and directors of many of the country’s largest surveillance, data-broker, and advertising-data companies
