 Maybe it is a coincidence.

But it is a pretty interesting coincidence.

The Trump administration began dismantling USAID in early 2025.

By March, roughly 83% of its programs had been cancelled.

By mid-2025, the agency was effectively shut down.

Then something happened across Latin America.

Country after country started electing conservative candidates.

Ecuador.

Bolivia.

Honduras.

Chile.

Costa Rica.

Peru.

Colombia.

Seven victories in a relatively short period of time.

Now, to be fair, these elections were not decided by USAID.

Crime was rising.

Inflation was hurting families.

 Many left-wing governments were struggling.

Voters had plenty of local reasons to want change.

But that is exactly what makes the timing interesting.

For years, critics argued that USAID was not just funding humanitarian projects. They claimed it was helping build networks of NGOs, activist groups, and institutions that tended to favor left-leaning politics.

Supporters called that conspiracy thinking.

Then USAID largely disappeared.

And suddenly the political map started moving in the opposite direction.

Does that prove USAID was deciding elections?

No.

But it does raise an uncomfortable question.

If USAID was never politically influential, why are so many people celebrating its disappearance after this wave of conservative victories?

The funny part is that both sides seem to agree on one thing.

The right is celebrating because they believe USAID mattered.

The left is defending USAID because they believe it mattered.

The only disagreement is whether that influence was good or bad.

What started as a budget fight in Washington is starting to look like a real-world political experiment.

An institution that spent decades operating around the globe suddenly vanished.

Now everyone is looking at the scoreboard.

The Lebanon Crisis Is Turning Into A Bigger Fight Than Hezbollah

The battlefield is not just about rockets and strikes anymore. The bigger fight is becoming political, and the people making the loudest statements are creating a much bigger problem.

Israeli officials are openly using much harsher language.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz talked about destroying villages in southern Lebanon and preventing around 200,000 residents from returning.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir went even further, saying:

“All of Lebanon must burn.”

Those are not small comments. They show how far the rhetoric has moved inside Israel’s government.

At the same time, Iran is using the Strait of Hormuz as leverage.

Iranian statements have linked reopening the strait to conditions involving southern Lebanon and Israeli military actions.

And this is where things get messy.

The US appears to want diplomacy moving forward, while Israel’s strikes against Hezbollah continue creating friction.

 The uncomfortable question is:

What happens when one side wants a deal, another side wants more pressure, and every strike makes the political situation harder to control?

Reports that US officials are speaking with Israeli opposition figures like Naftali Bennett and Gadi Eisenkot show there is frustration with Netanyahu’s current approach

Ironically the only regime change in the Middle East will probably be in Israel.

Who had that on their bingo card?

Gaza Has Become A Deadly Place For Journalists And Israel Has To Answer Why

How many journalists have to die before the world demands a real explanation?

On June 20, an Israeli strike in the Bureij refugee camp killed Al Jazeera cameraman Ahmed Wishah along with at least five others, including a child.

Al Jazeera says he was deliberately targeted.

Israel says Wishah was not just a journalist and claims he was a Hamas sniper operative. The military says it carried out a precise strike against militants, but has not publicly released evidence proving that claim.

And this is where the story becomes impossible to ignore.

Since the war began, more than 260 Palestinian journalists and media workers have been killed according to press freedom groups and local organizations.

That number is not normal.

Wars are dangerous. Journalists die in conflicts. But Gaza has become one of the deadliest places in the world for reporters, and the repeated deaths of media workers have raised serious questions about Israel’s military operations.

Israel argues that Hamas operates inside civilian areas and that some journalists killed had connections to militant groups.

But critics point out something obvious:

A journalist wearing press markings is not automatically a fighter. A media worker reporting from a war zone is not a military target.

And when access for independent foreign journalists remains heavily restricted, every new strike creates more suspicion because there are fewer ways to independently verify what happened.

The debate keeps returning to the same point.

Israel says it is targeting Hamas.

Critics say the civilian cost, including the deaths of journalists, has become impossible to ignore.

The question is simple:

Why has Gaza become one of the deadliest places on Earth for journalists?

The Forgotten Homemade Mosquito Trap That Kills Thousands Every Night

Comments from source

I would 100% disagree. You can continue to use the same water as a matter of fact you should continue to use the same water because mosquitoes give off pheromones to let other mosquitoes know that there is standing water. All you need to do is add mosquito killing granule to the water about a teaspoon and it will kill all the eggs that they lay. Also, you should try to use non-chlorinated water mosquitoes don’t like chlorine.

Ladybugs do not actively hunt or consume mosquitoes. They are primarily predators of soft-bodied plant pests such as aphids, mites, scale insects, and whiteflies.

Dragonflies (both adults and nymphs) consume hundreds of mosquitoes daily.

Fish like guppies eat mosquito larvae in water.

Add Mosquito Fish to ponds or large standing water to prevent mosquitoes from growing

Bats and insectivorous birds (such as swallows and purple martins) prey on adult mosquitoes.

I live on a small farm in NC. I solved my mosquito problem by filling buckets half full around the yard in corners, shady areas, inside foliage areas outta sight. I do my rounds after about 2 weeks and dump the water then repeat the process. You'll see thousands squirming around in there. I dump the mosquito filled larvae on my garden plants it provides a bit of protein lol. It truly works ! It destroys 90+% if you are constant in this.

Here in the Philippines we have a fish pond.. No mozzies as they lay their eggs in the water and the fish eat them.

Also lots of dragon flies around the pond that catch and eat flying mosquitoes.

I simply use 1/4 mosquito dunk/bucket/month and dirty water is fine so I just add as it evaporates if rain hasn’t come. The dunks kill the eggs so in ~2 weeks you’ll be mosquito free since they remain close to where they hatch. Treats 1/4 acre easily. 1 acre lot, big yard with pool in hot Texas = blissful summers 3 years now! TIPS/FYI - I use a tall pretty planter on my covered patio. I add dried weeds and a little dirt to the water when I start over annually. When starting or adding water, I’ll let it sit out 24-48 hrs to dechlorinate, but my friend skips that with no issues. I only start from scratch after winter since they like gross water. And I attached large mesh-like product to top for critter safety. Dunks last 1-month, whereas the Mosquito Bits (same company) are quick acting. I had to repair back fence once and got eaten up so that told me the 1/4 acre was spot on. Never treated front yard and had mosquitoes out front. Stupid simple and cheap.

For a simpler and safer design... Use 3 PVC pipes, not 4. Mount the pipes to the inside of the bucket with 2 screws each from the outside of the bucket into the sides of the PVC pipes. Put slip on end caps on the top of the pipes, not glued, just pushed on. Put screws down through the top of the lid into the end caps, just snug. There are no exposed sharp screw tips with this design, plus it is cheaper since you don't need the pipe straps, or the long screws which are expensive. To remove the lid, just grab the end caps, one at a time, and twist as you lift, no tools needed. The screws will spin in the lid easily to allow this. To install the lid just gently press the end caps back on to the pipes. The friction will never allow the lid to blow off. The end caps will match the pipes in only one of 3 possible orientations, so everything will always align nicely. The rest is as you say. I used blue LED solar powered stair step lights from Amazon. They just stick to the top of the lid with double sided tape. I used a white lid so the blue LEDs could shine down through the lid onto the water, as the lid was not entirely opaque.
