Mina Farahmand — who willingly interned for free last year to help get fellow silver-spoon socialist Zohran Mamdani elected mayor – is the daughter of a prominent surgeon and grew up in a palatial six-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom home on 30 acres in Colville, Wash.
Her father, Mehrdad Farahmand, is a general-surgery specialist at Providence, the largest health care provider in Washington State. Although his salary is not public, a current job posting for a general surgeon at Providence offers $457,269 to $555,423 in pay per year.
The elder Farahmand also owns a vacant five-and-a-half-acre lot about 10 miles away in nearby Kettle Falls, Wash., bringing his total property portfolio to nearly $1 million.
Mina Farahmand made national headlines last month after being fired from an unpaid post as a legislative intern for Councilman Harvey Epstein (D-Manhattan).
The recent New York University graduate and card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America claimed she was terminated as retaliation for spearheading a petition campaign demanding Council Speaker Julie Menin set up a fund to pay all Council interns “a living wage” of $32 hourly — nearly double NYC’s existing minimum wage of $17 an hour – plus health benefits.
Critics blasted the money move by the Gen Zer dripping with generational wealth.
“This is just another nepo-baby agitator who signed up for an unpaid internship, then demanded to be paid after the fact,” said former Councilman Robert Holden, a moderate Democrat, upon learning of Farahmand’s affluent upbringing

This new analysis notes that the US S&P 500 stock index trades on 41 times earnings, based on Robert Shiller ’s cyclically adjusted price-earnings (Cape) calculation. This is the highest valuation for US equities, using this tool, since the peak of the technology, media and telecoms (TMT) bubble of 2000 and exceeds the valuations reached at the highs of 1929 and 1901, both of which preceded seismic crashes.
The 41-times rating is also more than double the UK and European equivalent multiple, the widest gap ever seen.

Media reports are suggesting that the lower toll means the latest ceasefire is more or less “holding,” though Israeli officials are talking up the possibility of ditching it outright and launching an even bigger offensive out of already occupied Lebanese soil.
Even the notion of not continuing to attack Lebanon is controversial within Israel’s polity, and Netanyahu’s comments are likely centered on quelling anger about the ceasefire, even if its terms don’t restrict attacks. How long Israel’s offensive will be as muted as its been in the past week remains to be seen, but the rhetoric seems to be pointing to them gearing up for a new push

Truck Driver (Deepak Kumar) Accused Of Using Fake Documents To Steal $2.9 Million Cargo

Police in Greenfield, Indiana, arrested a California truck driver after officers recovered nearly $2.9 million worth of tungsten oxide powder that police said thieves stole during a cargo theft in Pennsylvania.
According to a June 28 news release from the Greenfield Police Department, officers received an alert around 6 a.m. Saturday regarding a wanted semi tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 into Hancock County. Police said the truck was connected to a cargo theft that occurred in Pennsylvania on June 25. Officers located the truck and trailer just west of the Greenfield exit at mile marker 104, confirmed the information and conducted a traffic stop.
Police identified the driver as 31-year-old Deepak Kumar of Fresno, California. Authorities said Kumar used fraudulent documents to obtain a load of nearly 40,000 pounds of tungsten oxide powder. Police valued the shipment at $2,857,500 and said it was headed to Mitsubishi Materials Corporation in Japan

I reviewed Kentucky House Bill 622, I cannot find any section or clause within this bill that would substantiate this August 3 deadline. In fact, based upon the law passed in 2024, it looks like presumably a special election could be called up until approximately November 9th, 56 days before the new Congress is sworn in on January 3. If someone has an actual statute they can point to substantiating the August 3 date, I would love to see it
