192-year-old church set on fire in Maine
A fire damaged the Dennysville-Edmunds Congregational Church in Maine on July 20. Built in 1834 so about 192 years old. State fire marshal ruled it arson. No injuries and damage limited to exterior. Motive still unknown and no public link to anti-Christian hate confirmed yet.
Family Research Council tracked 415 attacks on US Christian churches in 2024 including dozens of arsons. Europe recorded 94 church arsons in 2024 nearly double the year before. Open Doors 2026 list shows 388 million Christians facing high persecution with thousands killed and churches attacked especially in Nigeria and parts of Africa. Another US church fire ruled arson in Oklahoma earlier this year.
