Americans Hate Flock Cameras! So Why Is The Left So Silent About How They Are Being Used To Violate Our Constitutional Rights?

There is a growing national outcry to ban Flock cameras. We do not give up our constitutional rights when we get into our vehicles, and we do not want authoritarian control freaks watching us, monitoring us and tracking us everywhere that we go. This is an issue that is uniting people all over the country, and so you would think that politicians from both parties would be getting on board. Unfortunately, that is not the case at all. Many top Republicans are coming out against Flock cameras very strongly, but the silence from the left has been deafening. Yes, there are a few voices on the far left that appear to be concerned about our civil liberties, but most prominent Democrats have been eerily silent about Flock cameras. Why is that?
If you want cameras to watch you everywhere that you go, move to China.
Seriously.
We don’t want to live in a surveillance state, and our Constitution is supposed to protect us from that.
To me, it is exceedingly clear that these cameras are violating our constitutional rights, and there are some politicians that are taking action.
In fact, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley just initiated a major investigation…
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), the chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism, has launched an investigation into Flock Safety’s national surveillance network and is demanding to know who has access to the personal data of Americans captured on Flock cameras.
Hawley wrote in a letter to Flock CEO Garrett Langley that the company has “assembled an unprecedented national surveillance network” of more than 120,000 cameras across 49 states that conducts 20 billion vehicle scans every month.
“The overwhelming majority of Americans captured in those records did nothing wrong. Instead of serving discrete local investigations, as contemplated by our constitutional processes and safeguards, these camera networks harness artificial intelligence to pool what they capture into a national database that customers can search,” he wrote.
Good for him.
This is the sort of thing that our elected officials are supposed to do.
Flock cameras are being abused by law enforcement officers over and over again.
For example, a deputy in Richmond County, Virginia used the Flock system to track a woman that he was romantically involved with 1,639 times…
In one especially shocking incident, Former Deputy Jaquarius Yarbrough of Richmond County, Virginia, allegedly used the license plate tracking system to stalk a woman he was having an affair with 1,639 times over several months.
“What we’re talking about are cameras that are documenting everywhere your car goes,” Maass said. “There are databases where police can type in your license plate and see everywhere you’ve gone… The government shouldn’t be creating databases of movement.”
Sadly, that is not an isolated incident.
A police officer in Kentucky was recently arrested for using the system to track his ex-girlfriend more than 2,000 times…
A Kentucky police officer was arrested after authorities said he used the Flock Safety license plate reader camera system to track his ex-girlfriend over 2,000 times, marking the latest in a string of recent law enforcement officer resignations or arrests for alleged abuses of the controversial technology.
Things got so bad that the ex-girlfriend was eventually forced to file for an order of protection…
Investigators found Zahir had conducted 2,048 Flock searches from January into May to track two vehicles registered to the victim, his child’s mother, in Kentucky and Indiana, court records show.
During the period he conducted those searches, Zahir harassed the victim and made threatening comments, prompting her to file an order of protection against him, according to the court records.
This just keeps happening again and again.
According to CNN, throughout the country there have been “at least 47 instances of officers being disciplined in some way for alleged abuse of the Flock system for stalking romantic interests”…
The Institute for Justice, a nonprofit public interest law firm that has filed lawsuits against Flock on Fourth Amendment grounds, has tracked at least 47 instances of officers being disciplined in some way for alleged abuse of the Flock system for stalking romantic interests.
Of even greater concern is the fact that Flock cameras often create false positives that flag citizens that are completely innocent.
One police department in California actually discovered that a whopping 71 percent of its Flock alerts were errors…
Hawley said the surveillance notifications have also resulted in mistaken arrests, such as that of a Florida woman who spent 13 days in jail and faced multiple felony counts after investigators mistakenly arrested her based on a search of Flock’s network.
“Errors and false positives add insult to injury,” Hawley wrote.
He cited one California police department that found that 71 percent of its Flock alerts “were wrong” and noted the Los Angeles Police Department ended its Flock contract after an audit showed its officers had stopped 161 vehicles incorrectly flagged as stolen.
Do you want police officers coming to your door because some stupid Flock camera mistakenly flagged you?
But even if Flock cameras worked perfectly, they would still be violating our constitutional rights.
This is a point that Senator Hawley just made very aptly…
“Americans do not surrender their privacy rights when they drive to work, drop their kids off at school, or go to church,” Hawley wrote. “The Supreme Court has recognized that a comprehensive, retrospective record of a person’s movements is different in kind from ordinary observation in public.”
He is right on target.
We don’t give up our constitutional rights when we leave our homes.
But the CEO of Flock is telling us that Americans must “compromise” on their constitutional rights in order to feel more secure…

Over the past month, 10 out of 310 guest submissions to the three publications were labeled as at least 80% “AI” by AI detector Pangram, suggesting AI is not yet making a meaningful dent in human contributions to the most prestigious publications. Another 40 articles were partially AI-generated. Pangram uses custom AI models to analyze text and other content for AI and, according to a spokesperson, has a .01% false positive rate. If Pangram finds more than 80% of the text is AI generated, it is labeled as AI. In informal testing by Semafor, Pangram was very accurate in detecting AI-written text, though some complain of false positives.
Semafor’s analysis follows a debate sparked Tuesday, when billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller — and later The Wall Street Journal’s opinion page editor, Paul Gigot — stood behind Druckenmiller’s use of AI to write an opinion piece critiquing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s interventions in the bond markets. The piece had the wooden hallmarks of AI text (“This wasn’t liquidity management, it was price management,“) but served its purpose as a blunt rebuke from a titan of finance to his protégé, and circulated widely in Washington and on Wall Street before — and after — its AI roots were confirmed. Pangram gave it a 100% AI score.

New Jersey Has America's Highest Lifetime Taxes: $1.36 Million
How much money do you have to pay in taxes over a lifetime?
This visualization, via Visual Capitalist's Bruno Venditti, maps the estimated lifetime tax bill for a single filer in every U.S. state, including federal and state income taxes, as well as sales, property, and vehicle taxes.

Massachusetts follows at nearly $1.30 million, while Connecticut ranks third at $1.25 million. New Hampshire and New York round out the top five, highlighting the Northeast’s strong presence near the top of the ranking.
Florida Has the Lowest Lifetime Tax BillAt the other end of the ranking, Florida has the lowest estimated lifetime tax bill at $508,980.
Florida’s lower total is helped by the absence of a state individual income tax, reducing the tax burden that residents pay on their earnings over time.
South Dakota is next at $515,732, followed by Arkansas at $517,942 and Oklahoma at $526,333. Together, the four lowest-ranked states have estimated lifetime tax bills ranging from about $509,000 to $526,000.
States in the Middle of the PackSeveral large states fall closer to the middle of the ranking. Texas has an estimated lifetime tax bill of $615,932, while Georgia comes in at $655,532 and Arizona at $698,824. Pennsylvania ranks higher at $835,067, putting it well above these states but still below the million-dollar mark.
Having no state individual income tax does not necessarily translate into a low overall lifetime tax bill. Washington, for example, ranks 16th at $816,217, above many states that levy an individual income tax. The estimates also account for federal income, property, sales, and vehicle taxes.
Tennessee ranks 32. And has no state income tax.

Independent Journalist Nick Shirley Leaves New York Times Reporter SPEECHLESS After She Tries to Defend California’s “Stop Nick Shirley Act” — Then She Allegedly Cuts the Interview Short
Shirley posted the clip Thursday with a caption that said it all:
“Here is the New York Times realizing they are advocating for a law that would effect journalism and fraud from being exposed.”
Rosenhall starts in defense mode. According to her, lawmakers maintain that the bill was already being developed before Shirley traveled to California.
Shirley immediately shot back: “Not true.”
“Because I announced on January 31 that I was coming to California,” Shirley explained. “I had already filmed the videos. The word had already gotten out that I filmed inside these immigration support service providers, and then they created the bill before I published the video.”
Official legislative records show Democrat Assemblywoman Mia Bonta introduced AB 2624 on February 20, approximately three weeks after Shirley says he publicly announced his California investigation. Bonta is married to California Attorney General Rob Bonta.
Rosenhall continued pressing the Democrat talking point, telling Shirley that immigration-service providers claim they had experienced problems “for quite a long time” and were supposedly unaware of his work when they decided the legislation was necessary.
“It’s a lie, quite frankly,” Shirley responded.
Shirley argued that California already has laws against doxxing and threatening people and warned that AB 2624 creates a special protected class for virtually anyone associated with an immigration-service organization.
“There’s no need for this bill,” Shirley said. “They’re making a protected class by specifically saying immigration support service providers.”
The enacted legislation defines “immigration support services” broadly to include legal representation, advocacy, case management, humanitarian relief, referrals, translation, counseling, and healthcare.
Even more troubling, the law’s definition of a protected provider includes a person who “provides, assists in providing, or receives” those services.
The law also defines protected “personal information” to include names, physical descriptions, photographs, video footage, telephone numbers, employment histories, license plate numbers, and financial information.
Rosenhall then claimed that individuals could not simply receive the law’s protections automatically and suggested they would need law-enforcement approval.
But that is not the full story.
Under the enacted text, a restraining order is only one possible form of documentation. An applicant may alternatively submit a certified statement from the immigration-service organization, or from the employee or volunteer claiming to have experienced threats or harassment, along with a sworn statement of fear. Knowingly submitting false information is classified as a misdemeanor.
Shirley warned that the system could be exploited by someone attempting to conceal fraud.
“Imagine a fraudster who knows he’s committing fraud,” Shirley said. “He’s like, ‘Oh, well, now under this bill, if I’m committing fraud, I’m just going to go enroll in this program.’”
The New York Times reporter then pointed to language stating that posting information becomes unlawful when it is done with the specific intent to incite violence or issue a threat.
“If you’re just posting it for information to inform the public, that wouldn’t be a violation, would it?” Rosenhall asked.
Shirley responded by raising the nightmare scenario facing independent journalists: Who ultimately gets to decide what the journalist intended after an unrelated third party responds to a report?
The harassment standard in the bill, he noted, includes “unwelcome visitation” and “unreasonable fear.”
“If I go expose a fraudster, are they going to be fearful? Well, of course.”
Rosenhall reached for the last talking point: the ban only applies if someone posts information “to incite violence or make a threat.” Informing the public, she suggested, would be fine.
Shirley asked the question the New York Times never asks about Democrat legislation.
“Who’s to say that? … If I expose it and then I expose it to somebody else and then a third party comes in and incites violence or harassment, what does that mean? That means that they could literally hire somebody to go commit the crime and say that third party was because of Nick Shirley, then Nick Shirley is responsible for that crime, and then we’re gonna give Nick Shirley a $4,000 fine.”
He put it on her.
“So you as a journalist, if you go expose a Learing Center — do you know what a Learing Center is?”
She admitted she had watched his videos. He finished the thought.
“If you go expose a Learing Center where there’s no kids at the daycare, they receive $1.9 million, and it just opens up a whole entire fraud ring, and then I expose it, a bunch of other people come in and say someone throws a — I don’t know, say somebody paintballs the building, right? They cause fear for that building, and then you’re responsible for the actions of a third party. But that fraud was real. It completely breaks the trust and the amendment of the freedom of the press by putting other crimes upon another person for reporting the truth.”
Rosenhall goes quiet and has to allegedly stop the interview, according to Shirley.
