In 1935 Austrian physicist Erwin Schrodinger proposed a thought experiment in which a cat placed in a box can be considered to be both mathematically alive and dead until the observer opens the box.

We in the modern world have existed on two simultaneous timelines: One path leads to extinction. The other leads to life renewed. It  is yet to be determined which timeline we are on.

I want to share a list of events scheduled to occur on our timeline between now and the November 3rd American elections that could lead to World War III.

August 31st: The Mecca Pact of Pakistan, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia met in Istanbul. The 3 Foreign Ministers agreed to establish a secretariat in Riyadh, with a Pakistani official to serve as the first secretary-general for an initial three-year term. They renamed their pact the Mecca Pact Defensive Alliance. Up to a dozen Muslim nations have expressed interest in joining.

Paul Craig Roberts was United States Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy under President Reagan and has become an outspoken critic of the Powers That Ought Not to Be. His opinion was they should expand their membership and take a bold step to challenge the current Hegemon of the US and Israel.

One such bold move would be for Turkiye to cut off all Azerbaijani oil going to Israel. This would grind both the Israeli economy and military to a halt.

Israel would see that as an existential threat and invoke their puppet state America to force Turkiye to rescind their challenge to Israel's Hegemon. If that fails, they would very likely resort to threats of nuclear war.

There are several upcoming events, which members of the Mecca Pact will attend, where they could discuss the main purpose of their alliance with receptive audiences. They share a common goal which is to replace the US and Israel as the Hegemon of the Mideast.

The first was the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on August 31 – September 1, 2026.

On Friday September 4th, Putin will address the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok. This session will include many BRICS and SCO members. Saudi Arabia has been given an invitation to attend. It will be an excellent forum to suggest plans to replace the US-Israel Hegemon in the Mideast and indeed the world.

The next such anti-Hegemon forum would be the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled for September 12–13, 2026. That might be a last opportunity to propose a bold move before the world economy collapses and sends us into Depression and War.

It should be noted that the Pakistanis have been threatened by the IMF with the imposition of rules that would end their sovereignty. China intervened to grant them a reprieve so they can continue their role as their lead agent in the Mideast. They are members of both the SCO and the Mecca pacts. And they have been the main negotiator between Iran and the US.

A possible triggering event for destruction of the West would be the scarcity of diesel and aviation fuel. Both of which are critical for all militaries. The SCO nations of Russia, India, Pakistan, China and Iran have their own sources. Israel depends on Turkiye for theirs.

President Trump has been going senile for some time. He threatened to bomb our ally Oman. The US has been relying on Canada for diesel fuel. He has angered our closest ally so much that the Canadians will close some refineries for "maintenance" and be cutting the US off from 300,000 barrels a day. Rotterdam refineries already pay $180 a barrel for the blend of petroleum they use to make diesel.

Diesel is important everywhere in the world for trucking but it is also critical for American locomotives. They use diesel to generate the electricity which powers the trains that are as long as 2 miles (3.22 kilometers) and often have containers double stacked, one on top of another. A diesel scarcity would soon empty store shelves from Australia to the US and Europe.

America has been sending petroleum to Japan so the Japanese don't dump US Treasury bonds which would send the US into a cataclysmic Depression before their November elections.

The Israeli October elections pose an existential threat to everyone in the Mideast and hence to the rest of us who do not want to be dragged into a world war next month.

Netanyahu has to do something daring to get re-elected as it is certain he will die in jail if he loses the October elections. Bibi is likely to commit an atrocity in Lebanon knowing Iran would respond by launching missiles towards Israel in sufficient numbers to stampede gullible voters towards him.

American politics, which had been vitriolic in the recent past, have recently descended into a "Death Match."

Republicans know that if they lose both the Senate and the House that the Democrats will not rest until Trump, most of his cabinet and several of his family members are in jail.

That kind of existential threat tends to focus the mind. But Trump has gone senile and cannot act rationally so we cannot expect him to make a rational choice.

J D Vance once said he wished America could exit the Hegemon. He was the one who negotiated the Memorandum of Understanding which was meant to end the war. Trump signed the agreement in Versailles but violated it.

After Trump broke the MoU agreement, he began calling Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan almost daily begging for an exit from the war he and Netanyahu had started against Iran.

A second exit from the war was negotiated. Trump proved he could not be trusted so the Iranians insisted that all actions taken would be simultaneous. The Strait of Hormuz could be reopened at the same time as the US ended the blockade and the sanctions. That was to take place on the last weekend of August. Instead, Trump bombed Larak Island. Iran responded by launching missiles and drones at two US bases in Jordan.

So Trump has placed us back on the path to world war and global Depression.

There is a situation in the Third World that has us all on a path to potential societal destruction. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the failure of the Neocon project in Ukraine has resulted in looming famine conditions. Hundreds of millions of people can soon become victims of what I have called SSIV (Starvation and Starvation Induced Violence.)

Third World leaders together with people of their race now living in the West will be seeking an exit for the poor from famine induced civil wars and rebellions in more than a hundred nations.  These people should all demand an immediate end to the hostilities in the Persian Gulf.

The Trump cabinet, as I said before, is under threat of being jailed should the Democrats win the elections. They would gladly listen to a chorus of voices from both the Third World and their own constituents who demand an exit from this path we had been on to war and Global Depression.  Another consideration is that when Newt Gingrich led the "Contract with America" revolution of 1994 that led to Republican control of both the Senate and the House, 60,000 Democrats lost their jobs. That is sufficient motive for professional politicians to demand the Republican cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment if only just to save their jobs.

The logical answer would be to use the 25th Amendment to make J D Vance the next President of the United States. He might have to promise to issue pardons to Trump, his family and everyone in his  administration after the elections were over.

He could simply end both the blockade and sanctions against Russia and Iran. He could pull American troops out of Iraq, the Gulf states, Jordan and Israel. And let billions in seized funds be returned.

President Vance could use the impending famine in the Third World to convince Iran to reopen the Strait on humanitarian grounds and get the world back to normal as soon as possible.

This essay should not be construed as an endorsement in the US 2028 presidential elections.

My objective is solely to avoid a nuclear confrontation in either the Mideast or Ukraine. I simply want to give the world a chance to survive until November 2028.

I would hope that we could get a consensus  that would allow for America to stabilize its economy by cutting its excessively burdensome $2.1 trillion in annual military spending. That would require the US to be allowed to safely close more than 700 overseas military bases without risking war. We would need the cooperation of the BRICS nations to do that.

I have decided to write a second part to this essay which will describe what Nassim Taleb called a Black Swan event. This is actually a  series of related events that will threaten the existence of several billion people who might want to live to 2028 and beyond.
