Saudi Arabia is planning an offensive against Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen, with options being considered including a coastal push to secure the Red Sea shipping route or an assault on multiple fronts, regional and Western officials told Reuters.
The operation, expected to be launched in the coming weeks, will by led by Yemeni forces on the ground, which are overseen by Riyadh, and supported by Saudi air strikes, according to six people with knowledge of the preparations.
While the US is already providing intelligence to support Riyadh’s operations in Yemen, and some regional and European nations are providing mainly defensive military aid to the kingdom, the Saudi allies aren’t expected to play a direct role in combat operations, said the people who requested anonymity to discuss security matters.

$500 Obamacare refund checks sent out.
The Trump administration on Wednesday started sending $500 refunds to Obamacare enrollees the White House said were overcharged for healthcare by the Biden administration.
The Treasury Department is releasing these refund checks to more than 950,000 Americans in 30 states, according to an administration official. Some families with more than one “affected person” will receive multiple $500 checks or direct deposits, the official said.
Recipients will also receive a letter dated Sept. 30 from President Donald Trump, which is being mailed starting Thursday, the official said.
“For years, the Biden Administration overcharged you to fund the operation of HealthCare.gov,” Trump writes in the letter, which CNBC viewed.

Why the Iran War Equation Is Changing, and Why a Third War May Be Closer Than It Seems
Mohammad Amin Ahmadi, scheerpost.com
President Donald Trump said on September 17 that he was approaching a “big decision” over whether to resume major attacks on Iran. Trump has also said that he hopes the war is nearing its end, but his latest comments show that a return to major military operations remains under consideration. Washington therefore has two reasons to reconsider the current situation: continuing the war is costly, while waiting gives Iran and the Houthis more time to strengthen their positions.
This is the central point of the changing war equation. Iran has a growing reason to break the economic blockade. The Houthis have a reason to consolidate their gains around Bab el-Mandeb. Saudi Arabia has a reason to restore secure oil-export routes. Israel has a political deadline and a reason to prevent further deterioration of its strategic position. And the United States has to decide whether the current stalemate is preferable to another military operation.
The actors are not simply waiting for the previous war to end. They are responding to a new set of conditions, and those conditions are giving them new reasons to change the status quo. The danger is not that another war could begin without anyone having a reason to fight. The opposite is true. Several actors now have their own reasons to change the current situation, and some of those reasons directly conflict with the interests of the others. As the equation continues to change, maintaining the status quo becomes harder. That is what makes a third war more plausible than it appeared only a few weeks ago.

Bobby Kennedy just saved taxpayers $22 billion in Medicare fraud — wound care ripoff. Tip of the iceberg, 80% of Medicare billing is fraud.
RFK Jr. says Medicare spending on wound care patches exploded from $200 million in 2019 to $14 billion last year: “It’s all stolen.”
Bad actors billed Medicare billions by slapping the most expensive skin grafts on elderly and dying patients who didn’t need them.
“The doctors who prescribed them would get 6% of the sales cost. And so, they were incentivized to prescribe more expensive products. In Europe, they spend 35 cents a cubic inch. We were spending $135, and that went up to $2,000 a cubic inch.”
“So 2019, we were paying $200 million. Last year we spent 14 billion. All stolen. It’s all stolen. And we were on track to spend 23 billion this year.”
“We put an end to it, and we now have driven that cost down to somewhere around a billion dollars.”
In one Arizona case, the owners of two wound care companies pleaded guilty to more than $1.2 billion in fraudulent claims. Medicare paid over $1 million per patient for grafts slapped on elderly patients who didn’t need them, many of them dying in hospice.
In June, DOJ charged 11 more defendants over more than $2 billion in allograft claims, including a company accused of issuing sham invoices to inflate what Medicare paid.
It feels like every week I learn a new way people were ripping off taxpayers for billions.

Nuclear diamond batteries could power 150 million sensors, from deep mines to bridges
A US technology company has just unveiled a new nuclear diamond battery that could power remote sensors for years and support over 150 million connected devices across the world.
Nevada-based Nuclear Diamond Batteries, Inc. (NDBI) and its subsidiary AtomiQ published a white paper that pairs its nuclear battery technology with low-power wireless sensors. The proposed perpetual sensors
The proposed perpetual sensors are meant for places where changing regular batteries is difficult, expensive, or dangerous. They could be used in pipelines, bridges, mines, farms, defense sites, and remote monitoring stations.
The concept could have a huge potential market. More than 150 million devices worldwide already use LoRaWAN, which is a wireless network that allows devices to communicate over long distances while using very little power. However, NDBI has yet to test the technology in the lab, which is planned as the next step.
