In a startling move that has military experts questioning their assumptions about Iranian capabilities, Iran attempted to hit the joint UK-US base on the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia with two intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBMs). While US officials assured the Wall Street Journal that the base was unscathed, the Iranian strike aimed at a target roughly 4,000 kilometers from Iran suggests that the range of Iran's retaliatory capacity could be well beyond previous external estimates and claims made by Iran.
According to two officials who gave the Journal a Friday-night scoop on the story, one missile had a mid-flight malfunction, while the other was engaged by an SM-3 interceptor missile fired from a US Navy vessel. It's not clear, however, if that interceptor actually hit its target. Nor does the report indicate when the strike was attempted.

Liberal HBO host Bill Maher was left completely red-faced on his own show by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) after failing to do basic research on her ethnic background.
Luna appeared as a guest on “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday night. During her appearance, she was asked multiple topics, including the ongoing war in Iran, along with the potential for regime change in Cuba.
When Maher turned his attention to Cuba, he asserted that because Luna’s family is from the island and she grew up there, this topic must have special importance to her.
But there’s just one problem: Luna is actually Mexican-American and does not have one drop of Cuban blood in her. She is also originally from California and moved to Florida in 2020.
In fact, Luna made history as the first Mexican-American woman elected in Florida.
If Maher had bothered to do basic research instead of assuming all Florida Hispanics look alike, he would know this.
Luna then humiliated Maher by revealing the truth with this quip: “We’re Mexican, not all the same, Bill.”
With this savage one-liner, she not only embarrassed him for failing to do basic research but also for his lazy ethnic prejudice.
She added, “Who’s got jokes now?”
An embarrassed Maher apologized and blamed “bad information” for his mistake.
