I saw the royal navy's ships at portsmouth, HMS ark was just few berths down the pier from us the only time it moved was when the tide ebbed and flowed. later that same cruise I saw the italinan navy in La Spezia, they weren't taking any chances they welded the lot to the piers. the spanish navy at palma had a nice firearms museum they packed about as much into it as the U.S. did at Rock Island with about a 16th of the floor space. the whole base at portsmouth was a museum spanning centuries. there was a huge lot with nothing but old bowfigures (the carved figures usually women) the limeys were so keen to have on the front of their boats.
