To post on 4 um when there is no certificate, I have to clicked on advanced and select proceed to 4um unsafe.That allowed me to get to post this.

This needs to be fixed.

Fixed now.  Yes, your stated procedure is exactly what can be done.  In this case, given the problem was an expired cert, the site is still encrypted.  It's just an administrative/technical infraction that the cert is slightly outdated, if only by a few minutes.   Reasons for this type thing can vary, however, so that's not a sound rule in all cases.

The cert should have auto renewed on its own but didn't for technical reasons related to the non-standard 1443 port (standard 443) in the URL.  But that should now be fixed as well. 

Eventually, the site will be moved back to the standard port.  On the bucket list.
