That which has been is what will be,
That which
is done is what will be done,
And
there is nothing new under the sun.
-- Ecclesiastes 1:9

Déjà vu is repeating itself all over again. And I am not freaking out about it.

In the Old Testament – I Samuel 8:4-20 – the elders of Israel clamored to God for an earthly king, so Israel could be like all the other nations. God said – this is a crude paraphrase – “Okay, Okay. I will let you have your king, but you will be sorry.”

In the New Testament – Matthew 21:9-11 – when Jesus rode into town on a donkey – not an elephant, mind you – the crowds greeting Jesus wanted salvation from Roman oppression, rather than the spiritual salvation that Jesus offered.

In 1933, millions of gullible Germans welcomed a young, energetic charismatic Fuhrer as their national savior. Some of the most enthusiastic support came from Christians.

In 2000, when GWB was running for president, he said something about Jesus. Based on just once sentence, millions of spiritually blind Christians from Maine to Hawaii elevated him to a totally undeserved level of power and glory.

They were in total denial as this “conservative” president -- aided by a “conservative” congress -- outspent Kommunist Klinton by $1 trillion per year. They were in total denial as this Great Christian Man failed to lift a finger to repeal Roe v. Wade. They saw the evil in Klinton’s lying about his dalliances with an intern, but had no problem with unprovoked war, torture, warrantless searches and spying, rogue police and arbitrary arrest and imprisonment without any semblance of due process.

They were more than willing to cede unlimited power to The Great Decider. They were oh so trusting that their Great Christian Hero would never abuse this power.

Will they be just as trusting of Big Crock Obama? Methinks not.

To those millions who trusted Bush with unlimited power, I say, in the words of the old Toyota jingle: “You asked for it. You got it.” If you trust your guy with unlimited power, you need to be willing to trust the other guy with unlimited power.

But that ain’t gonna happen.

As one Christian Patriot friend said on an e-mail,

"The ignorant Christians in this nation are to blame more than anyone. They believe just being a Republican makes one good and well in the eyes of the Lord. Hosea 4:6 applies to each and every one of you.

"You have been blinded and you are to blame for the demise of our nation as you attend your churches that sit silent in the face of evil and embrace the destruction of every God-given Right and the killing of innocent civilians around the world in Biblically unjust wars all perpetrated by Republicans.

“Each and every one of you deserves Obama as president. You have sat silent while every vestige of liberty has been destroyed and dictatorial power has been given to Bush. Well guess what my blind friends? That power is now in the hands of Obama. You will now reap what you've sown. Enjoy. Do I sound angry? Damn Right I'm angry. Angry at ignorant and apathetic ‘men’ who would have Fox News tell them what to think rather than use their own God-given sense.”

Oh sure, some of these Holy Joes will crawl into caves, curl up in a fetal position and wait for the Rapture. But most – along with millions of others who say they are for limited government and “conservative” values – will positively seethe with dripping, soul-consuming hatred for absolutely everything Big Crock and Company do.

And all those Christian celebrities – those pimps for the pachyderm (1) – who exalted Bush so relentlessly will heap endless condemnation on Obama.

If you think these people hated on Clinton, BUCKLE UP! You haven’t seen anything yet!

This will be a good development. Proverbs 27:20 tells us that, “the eyes of man are never satisfied.” As my Jersey Shore homeboy Bruce Springsteen says, “a king ain’t satisfied ‘til he rules everything.” Give any contemporary president an inch and they will take a mile. Christian and conservative contempt for Obama’s every thought, word and deed will serve as a valuable break on his power. If only these same people had been so vigilant during the W years.

Thanksgiving Day is coming soon. No nation in all of history has been more abundantly blessed than America. People tell me I need to appreciate what we have. I DO APPRECIATE WHAT WE HAVE! I AM grateful to our Founders for the awesome legacy they gave us and I AM grateful that so many people have paid such a price so that you and I may live in at least a measure of freedom! And I will be damned if I sit silently while so many Americans give it up.

Tyranny always comes disguised as somebody’s good intention. Indeed, C.S. Lewis once wrote that the worst tyranny is that which is exercised for the good of its victims.

Our forefathers dumped tea into Boston Harbor and busted caps at Lexington and Concord over a much more limited tyranny than we face today. King George III only taxed them at about 3 percent. And there was no royal education monopoly or war on drugs.

As I told a friend on an e-mail recently:

“Pat Buchanan wrote recently that left and right are two wings of the same bird of prey. Ultimately, the same people run the show. They set up this false left-right paradigm and get people fighting endlessly over meaningless junk. There is a great line in Macbeth about ‘a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing.’ The real problem is not the media, Washington, Hollywood, etc. The real problem is that so many people are so willing to believe what their chosen spinmeisters tell them, no matter how absurd.”

As I told another friend on a recent e-mail:

“Right now millions of BUSH GROUPIES AND OBAMA GROUPIES -- you are equally deceived! -- are willing to give up all their freedom over a bunch of lies -- global warming, ‘change’, war on drugs, war on terror.”

Speaking of deception and brainwashing, look at these Bush Youth and Obama Youth.

I have heard much about GWB being “anointed” by God. All I know is that the same God that allowed GWB to become president allowed Bill Clinton and, now, Big Crock Obama to occupy the same office. This God wasn’t on vacation in 1992 and He wasn’t on vacation last Tuesday.

Someone asked me, “Do you think that now that Obama has been elected, the TRUE conservative movement will galvanize?”

The term “conservative” means whatever people want it to mean. In recent years, it has come to mean a plethora of oppressive, unconstitutional and downright un-Christian things.

Far more than political galvanization, America needs spiritual galvanization. We need prayer, we need repentance and we need to acknowledge who our Real King is. And only when enough of us come to this point, and we develop a truly Christian worldview, will things start turning around. This change – i.e. True Change as opposed to the change promised by the president elect formerly known as Barry Soetoro – is not going to be statistical and it will not be glamorous in the world’s eyes.

Let us heed the words of II Chronicles 7:14 in the days ahead: “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2)

I leave you with a video of Reverend S.M. Lockridge’s classic sermon entitled “That’s My King.” Oh how I wish I could have written this. Oh how I wish I could preach God’s Word with such energy, passion and intonation. Just watch this video and remember who your Real King is.

Earthly rulers come and go. However, in the words of Hebrews 13:8: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

(1) I didn't think of this phrase, but I sure wish I had.

(2) Concerning II Corinthians 7:14, you NEED to read this essay by Todd King.
