Now that the Mueller report is out, Democrats are plotting their next move. It is up to Speaker Nancy Pelosi to decide if Democrats will move forward with a partisan impeachment proceeding.

So Nancy Pelosi took this one phone call that could decide Donald Trump’s future.

After the Mueller report came out, Pelosi fired off a letter to Democrats in the House announcing an all-hands-on-deck conference call to plot their path forward.

Breitbart reports Pelosi’s letter read:

“As we continue to review this document, we will have more to report and will update you on the next steps that must be taken,” Pelosi wrote. “The Caucus is scheduling a conference call for Monday to discuss this grave matter.” She continued:

“In his summary letter and press conference, Attorney General Barr presented a conclusion that the President did not obstruct justice,” said Pelosi. “The Mueller report appears to directly undercut that claim.”

Pelosi said that while “we continue to review this document,” leadership would “have more to report and will update you on the next steps that must be taken,” thanking her colleagues for the “leadership to protect our democracy.”

Democrats desperately want to impeach President Trump.

But they are left walking a tightrope.

That’s because the Mueller report exonerated Trump on collusion and did not decide if he obstructed justice.

Impeachment is politically unpopular and there is zero chance Democrats will twist the arms of 20 Senate Republicans to go along with a partisan coup to undo the results of the 2016 election.

But their base – as evidenced by Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez circulating a letter demanding Democrats impeach the President – will not take kindly to Democrats punting on impeachment.
