China produces 80% of the world's rare earth elements. They are used in weapons, cell phones, hybrid cars, and magnets.

China does not have the means to match the US in the total number or amount of tariffs. But China can strike back in other ways. One critical way would be to cut off the US supply of rare earth elements.

The only problem with that was when MacArthur made an amphibious landing at Incheon to cut off the North Koran Army in the South, China sent 300,000 troops into North Korea. These troops were just coming off their own revolution and were battle hardened.

The reason Korea was the first U.N. war is because the Soviet Ambassador to the U.N. missed the Security Council meeting. I can guarantee that was the last one he ever missed. ;)
