How come this didn’t make the national news in 2014?

The Quinnipiac Poll is a major pollster, based at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Called a “gold standard” pollster, the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute employs about 300 interviewers, with a full-time staff of ten, and does not accept clients or outside funding.

According to a Quinnipiac press release, on July 2, 2014, a Quinnipiac University National Poll found Barack Obama to be the worst and Ronald Reagan to be the best U.S. president since WWII.

From June 24 – 30, 2014, 1,446 registered voters nationwide were surveyed by live interviewers on land lines and cell phones. The survey had a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points.

Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said: “Over the span of 69 years of American history and 12 presidencies, President Barack Obama finds himself with President George W. Bush at the bottom of the popularity barrel. Would Mitt [Romney] have been a better fit? More voters in hindsight say yes.”

Here are the poll’s findings:

33% of American voters said Obama was the worst president since WWII; 28% said George W. Bush was the worst president.

35% said Ronald Reagan was the best president since WWII; 18% picked Bill Clinton; 15% for John F. Kennedy. Only 8% thought Obama to be the best president.

Partisan differences:

78% of Democrats said Bush was worst president; 4% picked Obama.

79% of Republicans said Obama was worst president; 7% picked Bush.

41% of Independent voters said Obama was worst president; 31% picked Bush.

Gender differences:

43% of men said Obama was worst president; 36% picked Bush.

42% of women said Bush was worst president; 38% picked Obama.

45% of voters said America would be better off if Republican Mitt Romney had won the 2012 presidential election; 38% said the country would be worse off.

54% of voters said the Obama Administration was not competent running the government; 48% said Obama did not pay enough attention to what his administration was doing.

48% of voters said Obama was honest and trustworthy; 51% said he cared about their needs and problems.
