An interesting article I ran across that helps to explain that word DEFILE above. It means to "corrupt". The Jews' Hollywood, for starters, has done a really good job of that. The reason is so that God will "vomit us out of this land":

In fact you could say, his weapon was peace. He gave peace a chance. From reading just The Old Testament, just exactly what Balaam told King Balac is not clear.

Fortunately, more details are available in a well known, well respected history book. That history book is the History of the Jews, by Josephus. Balaam's advise to King Balac is found in Josephus Book four, chapter 6; here in chapter six Josephus reports what Balaam said to the king, Here is what he said;

"If you want to be victorious over them - follow my advice. Select your most beautiful women, women beautiful enough to overcome the modesty of their male companions. Dress them in the finest, most seductive clothing and jewelry that you can afford. Then send them to the Israelite camp with these instructions that when any of the Hebrew men desire their companionship, they allow it."

"And when the men lust after them, to let them do as they please but only after they have been persuaded to abandon their own laws; the laws delivered at Sinai through Moses, and to live by the laws and customs of the gods of the Midianites and Moabites; for by this means their God will be angry at them."

Balaam's advice is simply this. To; persuade, seduce, trick or otherwise get God's people to break God's Law, or live by the customs and laws of other lands. This is done to get God to remove his blessings and bring instead, curses upon his own people.

When you read Josephus' account you will find that the men who were seduced, did not believe that they were doing anything wrong. God does not say, it is O.K. to sin, if your intentions are good. He does not say that you can do whatever you please, as long as you think you are doing the right thing.

There is a Bible in every Christian home, and if you believe that you can live contrary to God's clear instruction; because you have been taught, "God looks upon the heart," then you have been listening to the wrong people. I cannot tell if the bony structures match so that it's truly Epstein.

I might not expect the extreme pallor of the dead in this case. Strangulation, especially over a long period of time causes a vast increase in vascular pressure in the head and neck region. Most people are not aware that hanging is a slow death by strangulation. Constructing a noose that immediately fractures the 2nd cervical vertebra(hangman's fracture) takes experience as a knot maker and a good rope. Novices never make a good noose.

In such a case, many capillaries rupture under pressure leading to petechiae over the face and neck. Petechiae are ruptured capillaries causing a purple discoloration. Also, if he was face down while dead, blood will pool in the body at the lowest point after death due to gravity leading to a reddish purple discoloration as well.
