....Now, lets pause for moment to examine the real cause of U.S. migration from Central America. Its not gun violence. Its money. A factory worker in Mexico earns an average of $70 a week. In the U.S., unskilled laborers earn about $70 a day, which is an income level low enough to qualify for welfare benefits in most cases.
Among legal immigrant-run households, 63 percent were on welfare in 2014, as opposed to 35 percent of American households, according to the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS). Among legal immigrants in the U.S. less than 10 years, 50 percent were receiving welfare. Among those in the U.S. more than 10 years, 70 percent were on welfare. This shows a lack of upward mobility over time among legal immigrants....
Poster Comment:
You never hear conservatives just say "immigrants" -- only "illegal immigrants", and it's been that way for decades. What it really means is "Not racist -- don't shoot!" This lack of verbal guts catastrophically jiggers the whole subject.
"A lack of upward mobility" -- lovely fancy talk for "a fatal plague on ameriKa". Not mocking the source or author here, just doing a little bit of amateur translating.

No link? Right?
There are plenty of legal immigrants. Too many IMHO.
And the Mexican who comes to work isn't that much of a problem. Its the ones who come for free housing, free tuition and free medical care.

Some probably are. But rather than raiding and deporting low-level workers but not arresting their employers, I would prefer that ICE raid and deport those receiving subsidies from the US taxpayer.
Its the legal immigrants who are taking jobs from American workers. You know, like the coders Boeing hired to replace more experienced higher-salaried Americans.

They work cheaper. Capitalists love cheap labor.

Generally speaking, no. The corporations control our immigration policy and not American workers. We saw what happened to Boeing when they cut corners by farming out IT coding work to Asians who hadn't any experience in what they were doing but were cheaper than US computer programmers who knew what they were about.
And the wealthy want cheap help to mind the children and mow the lawn and so they support open borders. A little fresh blood is a good thing but we now have too many immigrants to absorb.
