A study years ago showed that women who were committing their second offense were given less jail time than men for their first.

There are probably other factors involved, like the average severity of crimes committed between men and women. Women probably commit less severe crimes, on average, so less jail time on average would be a reasonable expectation.

For a first time simple DUI, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

She should have kept her mouth shut in the police car and have gotten a better lawyer.

She could have fought the charge, she might have gotten a verdict of continued without a finding.

No. The study was for matched offenses. One case was of arson. Second offense for a woman, no jail time. For a man's first offense, jail time.

Might as well cheer when pretty and white is a defense.

No doubt about that.

But I bet it didn't work for that punk in Chicago in the late 70s.

This girl that lived across the street and was in High School came to my front door one afternoon with her girlfriend. She told me some guy tried to pick her up when she was walking home alone.

So I said, "Let's go and we will look for this guy." We hop in my Blazer and head toward the High School. We spot him a few blocks from the school. I pull a U-turn and get behind him.

He pulls over on 4-lane near phone company building and waits for traffic to come and pulls out in front of them. I had to wait for a few cars to go past, but I caught him at gas station next to Post Office about 4 blocks away.

The girls got his tag number. I told them, "Write it down right now and give it to Rick the school cop.

They find out he lived right across from the school. So they put a good looking blond lady cop out front.

He comes popping out the door and sees her. He walks up to her and says, "Hey baby, let's go upstairs and we can smoke a joint." She gives the signal and they bust him. They go upstairs and find weed. He is sitting in the shitter when I find out.

I tell the guys in the hood, "Get some ball bats and let's go." We cruise over to the school and I point out the car. I go around the block. They jump out and take all the windows out of the car all the way around. Then they run and jump back in the Blazer.

I see this guy a month or two later doing the same thing, hitting on chicks walking alone down the street.

He pulls over to get out of his car. I have this chick in the truck with me and I tell her, "Get down." I pull up along side him and shout, "I see you are still up to your old tricks." And I was out of there.

People like that don't change. And if he has been in prison, they get rid of molesters in there pretty quick. ROTFLMAO!

She lost her job as a R.E. agent after her arrest. Too bad and so sad. ;)

You overlook one thing. It is, and always has been, about the money.

Of course the cops are doing us all a service be getting drunks off the road.

I was hit by a drunk driver when I worked for State of Illinois. I was at my turn around point at the County Line when out of snow and ice.

Traffic was at least a quarter mile away. So I pull out and start to spread salt. Before I got to the intersection, a car hit me in the left fuel tank and knocked it off the truck. The spring hanger poked a hole in the tank and there was fuel all over the road.

I was out in the intersection before I could stop the truck. I backed up some to keep the intersection open. I jumped out of the truck and ran over to the car.

The right front was pushed up against the firewall and the engine was still purring like a kitten. I reached inside the car and pulled the keys from the ignition.

The firemen said he was pretty messed up. I told that to the cop and he said, "That's all I need to know." He went to the hospital and ordered a blood draw.

I had a lawyer investigate him. He told me, "He is living at home and has got nothing." No use trying to sue him. But I bet he had to attend alcohol abuse classes. And he still might not be driving a car. :-/

You know what I am going to do in the event I get pulled over for a DUI. It would become viral comedy gold.

Whew -- how much danger did this put you in? Tons, from the sound of it.

I took a few days off because of the shock effect of the collision. Actually the traffic was light since it was the middle of the night.

No one wanted to drive that truck without a driver side fuel tank so they had to down it. LOL

I'm addicted to his good stuff -- tho' the other day I watched one of his main classic movies and found it totally AWFUL. Hadn't seen it since its circa 1970 TV premiere, which I found totally thrilling at the time :-s
