Some half a million New Englanders were without electricity on Thursday morning after a nor’easter with wind speeds of 90mph knocked down power lines, uprooted trees, brought heavy rain, and forced school closures.

At least one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries when a tree fell onto his house in northeastern Massachusetts.

Boston reported maximum wind gusts of 70mph while Provincetown on Cape Cod got hit with blistering 90mph winds overnight.
