Rents are typically a direct reflection of never-ending property tax increases. Local wages are determined by what a business must pay for decent employees: fast food joints here advertise "starting wages" at $12/hour. The federal minimum wage has nothing to do with what employers here pay their employees. The law of supply and demand is in full effect.

In some areas the minimum wage is $15 an hour. And rents are high because immigration over crowds the market.

Excellent points. Invaders inflates everything. Every time you're driving in hellishly thick or aggressive traffic, rest assured that it would be like 15- 20 less so without the invasion.
