Yes I have. I have been around with this screen name for over 20 years. I've learned a lot, mostly by following links and buying books. A certain part of my learning has come from observing behavior and matching it up with the history I've read.

You must be wary of what is found on links. But buying and reading books is something you cannot go wrong on.

I worked concert security in Chicago in 80s and 90s for extra money. I was good at it. Plus I learned how to deal with people and how to read them and what they might do. It was an art indeed and I got to kick a lot of ass, and throw out a bunch of jerks.

One time we were working The Grateful Dead on north side at Rosemont. Someone was counterfeiting tickets. You could tell the bad tickets because they has a black smudge on them.

I was checking tickets at one entrance. Some guy hands me one of those tickets. I said, "This ticket is no good."

He grabbed it from my hand and ran. I chased him and caught him by his sweater. He slipped out of his sweater and got away. I threw his sweater over the rack by the front door.

He came back to get it. I grabbed him and threw him on the ground and said, "Give me that ticket right now or I'm gonna rip your head off."

The cop leaned over and said to him, "You better do like he is telling you." He pulls out the ticket and sticks it in the air hollering, "HERE! HERE!"

I got five of them. That was the most out of anyone.

When I worked for the State of Illinois, we had a foreman named John Kraus. He was a Sudeten German. When Germany annexed the Sudetenland he volunteered for the Waffen SS.

His father complained to the camp commander that his son was being treated too harshly in boot camp. He was arrested as a dissenter and sent to the camps in Germany. The last I heard Kraus still had not found a trace of him. A lot of people disappeared in those camps.

Kraus was not in very good health since he was captured by the Russians. He was riding on a prison wagon and had a female guard. She fell asleep and dropped her rifle. He jumped off the wagon, retrieved the rifle and woke her up. She gave him a big kiss and told him if she had lost her rifle they would have killed her.

Kraus was one of the few to be repatriated. Many of them died in the gulag as late as 1952. He is likely dead a long time now since most of those guys who were in WW II are gone. ;)
