Why not? Putin was baptized secretly into the Orthodox Catholic Church. His father, Vladimir, was a member of the Communist Party and was opposed to religions in general.

Putin was baptized on the day of St. Michael and the priest wanted his mother to name him Michael. But she had already decided on Vladimir in honor of his father. ;)
