Iran Might Have Shot Down a Ukrainian Airliner, But Pete Buttigieg Blames America

January 10, 2020 Conservative America Today

We’re less than two weeks into 2020, but we already have a statement that definitively sums up the current state of the Democratic Party.

There is now evidence that the Ukrainian airliner that crashed in Tehran on Tuesday was shot down by a Russian-built surface-to-air missile, such as those used by Iran’s anti-aircraft system. And guess whose fault that is, according to Mayor Pete?

A candidate for president of the United States just blamed the United States for Iran shooting down a commercial airliner and killing dozens of civilians. Buttigieg could’ve just expressed his condolences. He could’ve said nothing at all. Instead, he decided to blame his own country for the actions of one of its enemies. That was his instinct. It’s not really a surprise, but it’s informative to have documented proof of it.

Iran did this. It’s Iran’s fault. But Dems can’t say so because everything has to be Trump’s fault.

“Country over party.” Ha!

Is this the sort of wisdom we could expect from a President Buttigieg? Are Dems really this nostalgic for Barack Obama and his worldwide apology tour?

And now will come the backpedaling, the insistence that Buttigieg didn’t mean what he very clearly said, the counterattacks that his critics are homophobic, jingoistic warmongers, etc. It’s all just so tedious.

Poster Comment:

Iran freaked out and pulled the trigger on a civilian airliner. Mayor Pete needs to get a life.

The US Navy NEVER admitted that they shot down flight 800 in the 90's.

I think they did eventually have to admit to the accidental shoot down of TWA Flight 800. There were too many witnesses in the area. ;)

Trump is indirectly responsible for the lives that were lost on that airplane. He committed an unprovoked act of war that Iran was obliged to respond to. The Iranians chose a response that demonstrated the ability to hit American military targets in Iraq while avoiding American casualties. Unless you believe that Iran has no right to defend itself whatsoever, there is nothing wrong with their retaliatory missile strikes.

It was not unreasonable for Iran to anticipate that the United States might bomb Tehran. Activating anti-aircraft defenses for the capital of their country was a legitimate course of action. Where the Iranians went wrong is that they only grounded civilian flights for several hours rather than for the entire night. That is a very serious mistake on their part, but it doesn’t make Trump blameless.

Trump is indirectly responsible

I do believe that you are confounding an indirect cause and an indirect responsibility.

While taking out Soleimani indirectly led to the shoot down of the Ukrainian Boeing, it did not cause President Trump to be in any way liable for the firing of the anti-aircraft missile that hit the plane or for it's results.

Such a liability is in a true sense a responsibility for and act or for an omission.

Those indirectly responsible could be said to be the officials that failed to halt civilian air traffic on the night in question.

That would be key in this situation since the Iranians were on high alert after the killing of the Quds Commander. ;)

Sometimes they throw rocks.

Sometimes they're constipated, sometimes they're not.

Sometimes they're just throwing a change-up.

They're monkeys...having a ball with it all.

Sometimes they throw rocks.

When I was younger in Chicago, I walk into the alley behind the house of some friends about a block away. These guys I knew had some kid on the ground and were beating the crap out of him. One guy jumped on his chest. I stopped it right then and there.

Then about 20 people walked into the end of the alley and the fight was on. They got me in a circle swinging ball bats at me. I had an old coal shovel and a garbage can lid with a handle I used as a shield. (God bless Mayor Bilandic) One guy was swinging down on me. I raised up the garbage can lid and blocked the ball bat. I ran him over getting out of the circle.

That was before I started to carry a pistol on a regular basis. :-O
