Paul Krugman Says Someone Using His IP Address To Download Child Porn

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman tweeted on Wednesday that someone is using his IP address – a numerical label assigned to each device on the internet – to download child pornography. He suggested that while he may be a random target, it “could be an attempt to Qanon me.”

Well, I’m on the phone with my computer security service, and as I understand it someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography. I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me. It’s an ugly world out there.

It seems Mr. Krugman has mysteriously deleted the tweet above, but luckily – in case he forgot he tweeted it, or was hacked (again) – we kept a copy for posterity:

From what I see an I.P. Address can be hacked if it is on a LAN.

Trying to hack a private I.P. is another story. It can't be done. ;)

I doubt that. It is unlikely you can find any child porn on the internet. Google's programming would identify child porn and block it long before it can be searched. Even if the computer programs missed it, there are 100,000 cops with nothing better to do than to look at porn all day and it is a feather in their cap if they find any child porn. And, even if the cops miss it too there are tens of millions of people that would click on anything suspicious for inspection by humams at Google, Bing, etc.

Nudity does not make child porn. Perhaps the most famous photo of the Vietnam war is the full frontal view of 9 year old Kim Phúcrunning down a road naked near Trảng Bàng after a South Vietnam Air Force napalm attack; June 8, 1972.

It was featured on the front page of The New York Times the next day. It later earned a Pulitzer Prize and was chosen as the World Press Photo of the Year for 1973.
