He had so many wars that he needed men to support 4 women and their children. In Israel if your brother dies, you had to marry his widow and support her and her children. Hindus did not have so many wars but they id have old men marrying young women. To get rid of the surplus widows they would put the man on a funeral pyre to burn up his body. His young woman would be thrown on to the funeral pyre alive to avoid paying inheritances to widows.
