The Diamond Princess cruise ship is the largest controlled COVID-19 coronavirus infected population outside of China; 20% of the ship were infected over three weeks. This suggests the rate of official reported infections is likely too low

Boats are notoriously close quarters for all aboard. Space is one thing that is in short supply no matter how big a boat or ship is. I would expect higher infection rates in that kind of environment.

The people running the quarantine were bureaucrats. They ate food by grabbing the food with their gloves on and putting the food directly into their mounds. They had no red zone and green zone separation. Morons. Also a shared air conditioner is not a good idea.

To me this seals the fate of the idea of cruising itself. Based on extensive armchair research I think it's a fine idea but decadent in reality.

Cruise crews have to work hellish hours in conditions far from heavenish. I know this is NOT SUPPOSED TO MATTER TO ANYBODY but I'm not 'anybody'. My perception is that troubled, even disastrous cruises are getting more and more frequent. There are numerous videos with titles like 'WORST CRUISE SHIP EVER!', 'Carnival Fantasy is the WORST Cruise in America', '2019 The 10 Most Dangerous Cruise Ports For Cruise Ship Passengers' etc.

Dailystormer derides cruising as boomer escapism. Under a youtube touting the fashionable redesign of some cruise ship I commented something like 'They're renowned designers, they've spared no expense, they're getting rave reviews on the makeover -- but their taste is all in their mouth." It almost instantly got a thumbs up.
