Calls to mind how our Revolutionary ancestors sang of 'A world turned upside down', meaning people power had triumphed over the biggest empire in history.

The British band played The World Turned Upside Down at Lexington, VA when Cornwallis surrendered to Washington.

If you recall, Jefferson was the representative for the Colonials in France. He convinced the King to send his fleet to America. They blocked the British fleet from supplying Cornwallis with fresh troops and other arms, thus forcing the surrender. ;)

The War of 1812 was another war of conquest by the British Empire.

The fact they looted Congress and James and Dolly Madison fled their residence is factual. Looting of Congress and burning records therein also destroyed the ratification records of the 13th Amendment which forbade anyone who had a Title of Nobility from holding Public Office.

The Battle of New Orleans was fought a month after the war ended. But communication was so slow in those days word did not get to them before the battle went off.

I am sure there are many things that have been lost in history.

But we must remember the men who wrote the Declaration of Independence were all men of wealth and substance. We can see that in the wording of the document where it says we "pledge our lives, fortunes and sacred honor". ;)

If there's a god in heaven or anywhere else, the Brits will have a great deal to answer for someday.

Maybe god is in fact an evil being and causing all this -- surely would match what goes on better. I think I'll start praying to her and asking her to stop!
