Poster Comment:

"The federal government owns about 640 million acres of land in the United States, about 28% of the total land area of 2.27 billion acres.

"The public land is owned by the people collectively and we are the landlords and the Federal government is the tenant" -- but then he shows it's drastically the other way around using GSA figures.

In Arizona I met a guy who, while on a citizens' patrol for illegal alien border crossers, was beckoned by a National Park ranger. After he approached her, she arrested him for possessing a gun in a National Park.

"But I wasn't on Park Property when you ordered me to come over here."

Didn't matter to the feds. He got probation with loss of gun rights. And a fine if I recall correctly. When I patrolled with him and his group, everybody carried a gun but him; the feds were watching him.

He used to publish a newspaper called the Tombstone Tumbleweed.

Yeah, I read about all that terrible stuff that happened years later. I met him only once, so I didn't know him well. But I do know people pretty well, and I know that people lie, and Simcox's wife, who Simcox said was having an affair with Simcox's mortal enemy (a bounty hunter who was reportedly working with the police), might be one of those liars. I never met her; wouldn't know.

Interestingly, he refused to plea bargain on the molestation charges, choosing rather to risk 20 years in prison. Which he got.

So you think he might be innocent and even noble, refusing to admit even tactically to a lie even if it meant his freedom? I'd much rather believe that.

Sentences are almost always FAR longer when somebody chooses a jury trial over a plea bargain and loses. And with mandatory minimum sentencing which widely obtains, it's often a guarantee. Plead guilty to charge A, we'll drop charges B and C, and you'll get 3 years. Go to trial, we'll charge you with A, B, C, and D-H, we'll seat a jury that will convict you of something (they always do), and you'll get 20 years.

So yes, any time somebody chooses to go to trial, it argues in favor of his innocence. Defense attorneys are pretty good at disabusing their clients of the foolish notion that the jury is going to be impartial, that the trial judge will be fair, that the prosecution will actually have to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, and that justice will prevail. Because there ain't no justice this side of the river.

Wotta world. Where's the exit? By federal regulation there's always won with a brightly lit sign.
