There is something called a Minsky Moment. Very famous. It is 'when you sell the Good Stuff to pay for the Bad Stuff.' Translation: A man took out a lot of margin on a stock that just tanked so he is now forced to sell gold coins.

In the movie Avatar, Earth's military forces were tasked with securing access to the extremely unobtainable "unobtainium", minable sources of which were located in the very sacred land controlled by the, well, Avatarians or whatever they were called.

Numerous political parallels aside, it is a good movie IMO.
