Sadly, it does not appear that our society is equipped to handle hard times... this is not even close to the worst thing that we are going to face...

Won't be able to feed children. We are going into another Maunder Minimum. In some years the price of wheat rose 400% in the last one (1645-1715.) We are headed to massive Hyperinflation and 50% paycuts. Lots of violence as the poor will not be able to afford food. Unemployment rate in LA is 50%.

Compared to current times, things might get worse. However, based on the standards of 100 years, it will always be better than the best of times 100 years ago. That's because of technology, we are 40 times more efficient. One person can produce more in one day than a family could in a week 100 years ago.
