Yes, looking on Outwork's dam's side Juliac came from Juliet and Accipiter, and on his sire's side Dixie Slippers came from Dixieland Band and Cyane's Slippers.

Well it was a tight race and we still do not have a majority winner, so we are going to have to vote 1 more time and this will be the last. I eliminated all those with fewer than 10 votes.

I just checked the registry and it is now official, our girl's name is Danceswithbourbon, all letters no spaces.

I hope everyone got to see the video of her breezing down the lane. Even though it was an unofficial breeze and we do not have a time, I hope you agree with me that it was very positive. She stayed very engaged down the stretch and was running very good. I know Jordan was very happy with how she worked.

I still have not heard anything about when the backside will open so that we can see her in the mornings. As soon as I get that information, I will pass it along. You must trust me when I say " I want backside in the morning just as bad, if not more so, than everyone."

This unofficial breeze will be one more step in her training process. Jordan (our trainer) is building a solid foundation to get her race ready for us later this summer or early fall. During the coming weeks as her training continues, that foundation will get developed more and more each day. Let's hope she stays healthy and happy.

Received an update this morning. In my experience, you can map out the future for a horse, but there always seem to be setbacks.

I'll visit her when the track nazis allow it.

I wanted to give everyone an update after I talked with Jordan yesterday afternoon. Danceswithbourbon did not breeze this past Sunday. For the past couple of weeks, Jordan has been letting her go in the lane and doing untimed unofficial breezes of 3F until he felt her foundation would be solid enough to breeze an official 4F. On Friday, there was a bit of heat in one of her legs. It is nothing uncommon in horse of her age. She was kept in the barn on Friday and just walked the shed row. On Saturday and Sunday, she returned to the track with light jogs. i would expect her full gallop schedule begin again today or tomorrow.

I have also heard that this past week starting on Thursday, Churchill let owners in on the frontside, or trackside, for races their horses were entered. This is a step in the right direction to opening everything back up and getting back to normal. I have not heard anything about the backside opening for us to watch her train. I will provide those details as I get them.

One more update early yesterday. Heat in the leg means that something isn't right...most times it is minor stuff.

Is she boarded at the track? That's where she normally stays unless she races somewhere else? Or does she stay on a horse farm?

I just got off a phone call with Jordan while the morning training session was at a break. Danceswithbourbon spent a few days walking the shedrow then returned to the track to jog earlier this week. She has now returned to galloping and back to her training schedule.

Since I have not seen her train much in the morning because the backside is closed, I asked if he had feel for what type of distance or surface she might be best suited to run. Jordan said it is much to early to make that determination, but he really liked her demeanor. He said she was very professional and classy on the track. For those of you that have never been involved in ownership before, this is a very positive. We could have the fastest horse on the track, but if they do not have the mental part of being a racehorse, we will never win a race.

There is still no update when we can get backside to see her train, but hopefully soon.

This morning's update. It sounds good to me about her attitude and personality which combine to make her classy.

Distance and surface is often in her bloodlines, but we have to trust the the trainer who is with her daily. Usually the first start is a sprint/shorter race and then they stretch out. We'll see. I'm happy with the updates so far and look forward to seeing her in person.

Routine update and nothing earth shattering. I wish she would race this summer rather than the fall, but patience is a virtue. No bad news is good news.

I spoke with [trainer] Jordan late yesterday morning about our filly. She resumed a gallop schedule as I mentioned in the previous update email. She will return to an "unofficial" breeze schedule this Sunday. For those of you that are new, unofficial means it will not be timed by the official track timekeeper. She will gallop like her normal schedule, but the rider will turn her loose for the last 3F. This will be done for several weeks until she is built up to go 4F. Once she is ready to breeze 4F, we will get an official time and it will be posted on Equibase.

It is still a bit too early to determine what surface or what distance will be best for her and that may not be determined until after her first race. She should still be on schedule for a fall debut. This will allow Jordan time to slowly build her racing foundation. I like taking it slowly with these young horses. Too often, I feel that they are pushed too hard and too fast to get to the track. Remember at this point in her racing career she is the equivilant of 6th grade girl athelete and her bones and muscles are still developing.

I also asked about the possibility of the barn restrictions being lifted so that we can go see her. As of this email, we are still not allowed to be backside with the restrictions that are in place. There is a rumor being passed around that this restriction will be lifted sometime after the first of the month, however, that has not been confirmed and should be treated as a rumor for the time being.

I was able to get out to the track and check on our filly for the first time yesterday. I will let everyone know she is a big affectionate horse. She seemed liked having her face gently petted.

I also got to watch her gallop in company yesterday. She was still green like most 2 yr olds but wanted to pull ahead of her workmate. I was able to get some video of her for all to see and I will try and edit it and get posted today or in the morning. I think we have quite a bit to be optimistic about when we watch her work.

As far as protocol for entry, you must check in with security, park your car and go through another check point. There they will scan your owner credentials and take your temperature. Once that is completed, you are allowed to head back to the track. At all times, you must wear a mask over your nose and mouth.

If you are going out for your first time, please let me know so that I can let Jordan know you are planning on a visit. We need to make sure that we do not have numerous people showing up on the same day.

I was able to get to the track this morning. Bourbon went 2F after a gallop today. I was also able to get some better video. I am not the best photographer, but I think my skills are a bit better than Jordan's. If she comes out of this short breeze without any issues, we will breeze 3F next Sunday. Her schedule the rest of the week should be walk the shed row on Monday, jog on Tuesday, and resume galloping on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. When I worked for State of Illinois, I was riding a tractor on a cold day. I had a bandana over my face. I stopped at a White Hen Pantry to pick up a hot coffee.

This girl came out of the store and said, "You look like you're ready to rob a bank."

First let me say I am sorry to everyone, for some reason I hit the pause button on the video instead of record, so there is no video of today's work. She did go in company with another horse from the barn of trainer Jason Barkley. The rider kept her under a tight rein during the work. The reason being, so that she could get used to running in company with another horse. She reallly wanted to pull ahead, but like I just mentioned, she was under a tight rein. The time of the work was clocked at an unofficial 38 and 3/5ths. I did speak with Jordan and he told the rider to keep her under a tight rein and close to her work mate. I asked him to go 38 and change. So the goal of the work was accomplished.

After her last breeze a little over a week ago, the vet scoped her and detremined that her epiglottis was somewhat displaced. It did not seem to affect her during today's breeze. She may have a short procedure called a myectomy to keep the epiglottis from cutting off the air flow to her lungs. It will not require being shipped to the clinic. She will have the procedure done in the stall and she will not lose any training time. Some of you may remember a horse named Frosted. He had the same procedure after one of the Ky Derby prep races a few years ago and came back a few weeks later and was able to run 4th in the Ky Derby and later go on to multiple grade 1 wins. As for now, she will most likely walk the shed row tomorrow, jog on Friday, then resume galloping on Saturday. If all goes according to plan, she will resume breezing a week from this coming Sunday.

She was sold at the Keeneland sale in January. Not looking for a new partnership or syndicate.

I did go to Churchill Downs opening night yesterday and got lucky on some bets, so I still enjoy it as a hobby/diversion.
