An unidentified deputy was shot in the face, according to Sgt. Steve Odom, and his partner returned fire.

Criticism of police officers has increased recently as protesters respond to the death of George Floyd, who died on May 25 in Minneapolis after a police officer knelt on his neck for roughly nine minutes during an arrest.
Protests reached a horrifying apex of violence Thursday in Mexico when, during a protest in Guadalajara, a police officer who took his eyes off demonstrators was www.westernjournal.com/rioter-douses-police-officer- sets-fire-unrest-spreads-across-globe/? ff_source=Email&ff_medium=newsletter- WJ&ff_campaign=dailyam&ff_content=western-journal">set on fire in an incident caught on video.
Mike OMeara, president of the New York State Association of Police Benevolent Associations, blasted Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer accused of www.westernjournal.com/charge-officer-floyd-case- upgraded-officers-now-facing-charges/? ff_source=Email&ff_medium=newsletter- WJ&ff_campaign=dailyam&ff_content=western-journal">second-degree murder in the death of Floyd, and stressed that no police officers should be judged by Chauvins actions.
Everybodys trying to shame us. The legislators, the press. Everybodys trying to shame us into being embarrassed about our profession, he said at a www.westernjournal.com/police-union-chief-blasts- lawmakers-media-stop-treating-us-like-animals-thugs/? ff_source=Email&ff_medium=newsletter- WJ&ff_campaign=dailyam&ff_content=western-journal"> conference Tuesday.
Stop treating us like animals and thugs, he said. And start treating us with some respect. Thats what were here today to say.

No. Kunta Kinte was the black slave on the mini--series Roots which aired January 23, 1977 and ran for one season.
A saga of African-American life, based on Alex Haley's family history. Kunta Kinte is abducted from his African village, sold into slavery, and taken to America. He makes several escape attempts until he is finally caught and maimed. He marries Bell, his plantation's cook, and they have a daughter, Kizzy, who is eventually sold away from them. Kizzy has a son by her new master, and the boy grows up to become Chicken George. He's a legendary cock fighter who leads his family into freedom. Throughout the series, the family observes notable events in U.S. history, such as the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, slave uprisings, and emancipation.
Where it says he was finally caught and maimed, is that they cut his hamstrings so he couldn't run. ;)
