I am 88 years olde and in those many years have seen and heard of far too many cries that the world will end tomorrow or some such malady.

There are three areas of concern. Over population, world financial collapse and nuclear war. First and most likely is world financial collapse.

How old were you in 1645 or 1709 or 1715? There was a Big Freeze in 1709. The ground in France froze to a depth of 40 inches. Food prices rose 650%. The world population in 1700 was a little over 600 million which is about 7 billion less than today. A Big Freeze would unleash financial collapse and violence against neighbors far worse now than then due to over population. These cycles are longer than your lifetime. You need a bit more history to take them into consideration. We entered a similar Global cooling period.

When I was a child, I knew there would never be a nuclear war. Nuclear weapons kill rich people. Starvation kills poor people and makes rich people even richer because they can borrow a soon to be hyperinflated currency and buy all that food for 5 cents on the dollar and sell it back at 100 cents thus stripping the poor and the middle class of their assets.
