Offensive Words by Category

In response to requests from our community, we list all the words in our lexicon that have been labelled as offensive (and with no inoffensive senses) by our lexicographical colleagues, divided into draft categories according to the nature of their offence.

On 2020-06-22, this categorization was refined, with slurs being subdivided according to which Code of Conduct category(-ies) pertained to the slur; some offensive words were also reassigned categories.

Each word in each category is then listed alphabetically, but with its letters rearranged into alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order in order to obfuscate it from the casual reader. We welcome media inquiries at info@scrabbleplayers.org for a plain list of words.

If the Advisory Board decides to remove slurs (and/or any other category of offensive words), the category assignments will be reviewed.

We were working New Kids on the Block in Chicago. They sold every seat in the house. Band security asked me to stand behind the stage since there were a couple of girls in front row that had that spring in their step like they might jump.

I was standing in the shadows of the stage. I look over in the corner and this chick comes down the stairs and stands at the end of the row where no one was sitting. She was looking over the rail. I'm thinking, "I don't believe it. She is going to jump."

She was going for the stage stairs that were right there. She wanted to get onstage with her heroes.

Revisiting this thread with a fresh outlook and a brain that hasn't been turned to mush by a day of having read about the current insanity and also consuming a good portion of Canadian whiskey, this appears to be an attempt at Scrabble-Geek humor.

Checking in at magnificent ISC.RO (no relation to SPA that I know of) I see no updates. They normally load 'em for viewing by everybody as they check in. ISP has been shockingly reasonable about this and other potentially touchy matters and foul language in conversation is prohibited. I recommend it!

This isn't to say that do-gooders aren't going to start raising a ruckus there -- hopefully not. Fortunately, ppl playing together in person can still use any rules they want.
