(TMU) – It was only to be expected that in an already brutal year, the summer of 2020 was going to be the absolute worst.
And now, it appears that a sizzling “heat dome” will be frying most of the continental United States for several weeks starting this weekend.
What this means is that over 80 percent of the U.S. population – encompassing 265 people – can expect sweltering heat over the next week with highs exceeding 90. Another 45 million people will be facing highs in the triple digits.
Additionally, we can expect a full season of lethal heat ranging from 90°F to 121°F, not to mention extreme tropical storms, wildfires, and extreme weather related to La Niña conditions, reports the Independent.
On Friday, the National Weather Service issued excessive heat watch alerts for “dangerously hot conditions” and forecast that between Friday and Tuesday, over 75 record high temperatures would be reached or exceeded, with heat expected to increase in the following week.
On Saturday, temperature in Las Vegas reached a sweltering 112°F with the temperature expected to increase to 114°F on Sunday, while in Phoenix temperatures hit 115°F with Sunday expected to bring a withering 116°F before coasting at or above 110°F through the next week.
The new extremes sharply raise the danger of heat-related illness and death, further adding to the woes of hospitals struggling with surging COVID-19 infections in hard-hit regions and states like Arizona, California, Nevada and Texas.
“The heat wave will be very long-lived, lasting multiple weeks in some areas with only a few days of near-normal temperatures during that span,” Jeff Masters, Ph.D. and founder of the popular site Weather Underground, told CBS News. “This will increase the odds of heat illness and heat-related deaths.”

We used to drive thru that area every week on our regular trip to Florida in the big truck.
We would run down to Chattanooga and run around Lookout Mountain. We had to downshift going up the mountain. One time I was with this green kid and he missed a gear. We almost came to a stop.
I figured he would get lost running around the circle in Atlanta so I drove the middle part of the run.
We left Flying J in Lake Park, Georgia and I hit the sleeper. When I wake up I asked where we were at. He said, "Hwy 27."
I could tell by the lights on left side of road that he went too far. So I said, Get over in next left turn lane and pull up all the way to the other median. When you make your turn get the tractor all the way over on the shoulder." Otherwise he would have pulled trailer across the median and we were heavily loaded.
Luckily we were still on time for the delivery. Otherwise we would have had to wait to be unloaded until everyone else was done.
And that wasn't the only time he missed a turn. I bet he is no longer driving trucks. :-/

On top of reducing air conditioner use, the head of the Texas Division of Emergency Management last week urged Texans to wear face masks inside their homes.
“We still need people to wear the mask out in public, we still need people to keep social distance and isolation,” Chief Nim Kidd said. “Ryan, the one thing I want to try to get across today is we need to do that when we’re in our homes also.”
Maybe if we all just stop breathing the coronavirus will go away?

I was in Wal Mart and wanted to send some cash on Pay Pal app. They claimed it was fraud.
I said, "What is it with you people? Everything is fraud. Fraud, fraud, fraud. How do you transact any business if everything is fraud?"
Then I was in the library a couple days later and the woman there told me, "They just were trying to do you a favor?"

Yeah, it's bullshit alright.
But today I was out at the wrecking yard. Some broad pulls out in front of me from a parking lot earlier in the week. I had just a split second to avoid nailing her in the driver's door. Two cars totaled including my nice white pickup I have been caring for religiously.
So I'm out at the yard and I get sent back to my car for the stupid mask by the uniformed security nazi. Where I usually do business in this county, they don't give a shit. But here I gotta retrieve personal property from the truck so I gotta "Stand over here." and "Stand over there." That sort of bullshit.
It's 104º outside and there's stuff I must unbolt from my truck. It gets to where a guy might lose his patience and do something stupid.

When I got to the wrecking yard, there was a happy go lucky black security guy hiding in the dark of a blockhouse who ordered up a big forklift to get my sorry truck. He was in uniform but was w/o the mask.
I pulled around back of the truck with my toolbox and removed stuff off it sans stupid facial appurtenance.
When I go around in public, I never wear the the cursed thing. On the rare instances where I have to enter a building for something, I have the shittiest banged up old painters mask you ever saw. Every day I less and less give damn.
