I took a small boat cruise a couple years ago, big enough for 12 or 16 passengers. We motored at night between local destinations. Walking along the side it one of the evenings as we motored along, it occurred to me that if I or anyone else were to have slipped over the edge, which only had a modest cable railing, no one on the boat would know for 30 mins or several hours, and that would be the end of it.
