20,000 to 30,000 shells were fired every night. Many of these were artillery pieces taken from old warships. They fired 80 pound warheads. Half of the 60,000 Britons who died during the Blitz were killed by British artillery.

If the gentleman speaking in the video above is correct, it's just amazing that the British hadn't developed the high altitude fragmentation grenade (FLugaAbwehrKörper) that we've all become familiar with from WWII films and narration.

FLAK is a particularly effective and nasty way of bringing down large aircraft to counter a particularly nasty form of aerial warfare.

If this guy is talking history, it underscores the desire and the ability of states to sacrifice their own to maintain a propaganda edge or psychic momentum in a war.

War is a horrible eventuality where thousands may be rubbed out in an instant through mere error, inertia or stupidity.

Pray it does not come this way. (We are closer to it than many think.)

Major wars are not given birth overnight without the knowledge well before, of those paying attention.

In 1932 when FDR took over, he and the government knew full well Japan was coming, he did nothing. He kept lying to us that he would never go to war in Europe.

The question for the USA is this, will we fall from within or without????
