The seed scare resulted when seeds were sent unsolicited from China, mostly unlabeled and no one knew what they were or why they were sent.

Seeds from foreign sources are readily available from rareseeds.com aka Baker Creek Seeds where they are brought to the US and tested here and supplies of seeds grown and developed if they feel there is a market for them.

The technocrats are a long way from controlling the total market. The Big Agra corps control much of the bulk GMO corn and soy. But the field is wide open for the small producer to grown and save their own seeds and to acquire small quantities from multiple sources.
