Bloomfield-based Mennonite mother Wilma Hochstetler was murdered in cold blood in Indianapolis two nights ago.

Jonathan and Wilma Hochstetler were traveling with their 6-year-old through the city back from a construction site when they got a flat tire. A group of armed black men then approached them demanding their money and cellphones.

The couple obliged and handed over their property. As the robbers began walking away, they suddenly turned around and opened fire, striking Wilma in the neck and killing her and wounding Jonathan. Their child was forced to watch the killing and call 911. Police do not appear to be investigating a racial motive and no suspects have been named. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with funeral and hospital bills.

About 20 years ago, some Amish were murdered by coons in Wisconsin, best I recall (internet is no help anymore, thanks Google). The bruvvas thought they were Hasidic Jews.

Actually Amish are allowed to own and drive cars, if it is for business. Some of them lived near my home town. They always had stripped down Ford sedans, no trim. Come to think of it, their cars reminded me of the ones owned by my relatives in Kentucky, but I don't recall the Amish ever driving at night at 120mph. :)

car lots

When I worked for State of Illinois at Arlington yard, I was plowing out a major intersection near O'Hare airport. It was Mannheim (US 12 & 45) and Higgins (Ill Rt 72). Mannheim had two left turn lanes going NB since most of the traffic followed the U.S. routes.

It was three lanes each way. There was about 18" of heavy, wet snow near the right turn island going EB.

There were two Mexicans standing on the curb by the used car lot that was on the corner.

When I hit that snow it came off the plow like a tidal wave. Those two Mexicans turned tail and ran as fast as they could.

The snow went across there and up on the parked cars in the car lot. If the two Mexicans had not run they would have been buried. ROTFLOL

I don't think any of my "cousins" actually ran 'shine, they would just buy stuff in wet counties and resell. One of them had a 69 Galaxie fastback, the whole thing painted flat black except the lights, housing a 429 taken from a wrecked Mustang. I was like 11 or 12 years old and still remember going on a run with him, I think his name was Dale (everyone around there was "cousins", lol). We went tearing up this twisty dirt road at about 90, sliding like it was a sprint car, I was having too much fun to be scared.
