"We need to transition away from fossil fuels quickly..." (video at 2:13)

No, "we" don't.

Tesla always was a battery company, not a car company.

Trying to have all battery powered vehicles is as daft as trying to have all battery powered buildings.

Daft? I call it total effing insanity. The EROI is nutz.

I defer to your engineering superiority and your choice of adjectives.

I heard one of those Tesla autos burned to the ground. No one wanted to touch it since the contents of the batteries was unknown. Unknown Haz Mat is a BIG problem. ;)

That's right. And these guys should know better than to say much of what they say. I wonder who's paying them?

They say battery manufacturing begins with mining the constituent battery materials, but that's not true. It begins long before that -- before the guys who mined the iron ore to manufacture the mining equipment even got up in the morning. And the guys who worked in the steel mills and the machine shops and the assembly plants... And the guys who drilled the oil wells to provide fuel for the equipment, and the guys who built the tanker ships and the oil refineries and the trucks to haul it and the pipelines to carry it... Etc.

The government's pushing electric vehicles on us -- and pulling internal combustion vehicles away from us -- is intended to limit our mobility so that we serfs will be easier to track and control on their global plantation. Period. See much cogent info and discussion of this subject at epautos.com.

i had to look it up

In energy economics and ecological energetics, energy return on investment (EROI), also sometimes called energy returned on energy invested (ERoEI)

Mr. Spock would say, "That seems logical." ;)

Mr. Spock would say, "That seems logical."

Or he might just say, "Obviously."

I can see it in my mind's eye. ;)
