My brother was north of that area in the US 9th army.He was killed in early March in Germany.

At that time, later friend of mine was aero engineer with Messerschmidt. He was dragged off the street by Gestapo to be sent to Russian front. They were given uniform and rifle and were soldiers.

Manpower shortages were primary problems for Germany. Many with desk jobs and even younger teens were pressed into military service.

The cream of Germany's young men were sacrificed on the Eastern front. ;)
