She was pretty fucked-up, probably never had much more capabilities than a 2 y/o.

I spent the last 15 or so years taking care of a dying family. Carol was costing the taxpayers about a third of a million a year after I had to have Mom put to sleep in hospice.

I saved y'all a bunch of bux, throwing my life away being a hero.

I'll always regret that. I'm too old and banged up to have a life now.

It's not at all like when younger and working two jobs. Concert security was the second job. You had to be pretty tough to do that and I got to kick a lot of ass and throw out some real jerks. I even had to have a few arrested.

One time when working Dokken at the Vic Theater, I was doing the after show party. There were two guys there who were Dokken freaks. I was looking after one of them. I turn and the other has Dokken pinned against the wall. He is looking over at me like, "Help!"

I got them both out of there, "Alright, you got to meet the band. time to go home."

Then here was this chick leaning against the pillar. Dokken picked up her top and signed across her chest right above her hooters.

We were walking down the stairs together. Dokken stopped and turn to me and said, "Do you know what her boyfriend said to me? He said, "Go ahead, man. She's good." Then Dokken said, "I don't think so. What would you do?"

I said, "You know what I would do? I would go and get my Don Dokken mask."

We got them all on the bus. The driver closed the door. The Dokken came back up front and had the driver open the door. He cane off the bus and shook my hand and thanked me personally.

Now that was real class. The last thing he said was, "Get some sleep." Sleep was kind of scarce in those days. ;)

Things happen for a reason. My sister has a daughter, my niece, that has never walked, or talked and she's in her 30s. The interesting thing of note is how sometimes God makes sure that those less fortunate in one respect are more fortunate in others, and my niece is so very fortunate to have the love and care most of us will never experience faithfully tendered to her by my little sister.

Another part of that whole God works in mysterious ways thing is that my little sister was a wild ass in her youth and having her daughter made her into a settled parent and caring mom. A miracle and later she married a wonderful guy (not the baby daddy) that has taken on the responsibilities of fatherhood with the same kind of dedication. I love that guy as if he were my brother.

All I can say is that once I realized how insignificant I am it made it much easier for me to let God take responsibility for everything because it's all His, and then take care of the mess here on planet earth. Of course we can pitch in to assist and should do so, but in the end this creation belongs to God and life becomes less confusing when we recognize the ownership of ALL THINGS even our children.

And, by the way, my sister says that Katie, her handicapped daughter is HER BEST KID !

That's head banger music. We worked shows like that at Medusa's. It was a juice bar on Sheffield about a mile south of Wrigley Field. It was on 2nd floor and a long flight of stairs down to the street.

It was usually a pretty young crowd, that was why no alcohol.

One night I grabbed this guy for trying to get onstage. He was pretty wild going out with his arms raised up. When they are out of control, you cannot get them down that flight of stairs.

I got him out the door at top of stairs. I tried to take his leg out. It didn't work. So I reversed it. I slipped him into a Half Nelson and grabbed his right arm. I moved him over 5 or 6 feet and thumped his head on the wall by entrance to the ladies room. That brought him down a few notches.

Do you know what he said to our guy at the bottom of the stairs? "Where is the nearest liquor store." That would have been Brown Derby a block south.

Al was sitting there taking tickets. He said to me, "Tex, he was a big boy. You really manhandled him."

When you get thumped like that you generally remember it. But he might have gotten too drunk to remember anything. ROTFLOL
