Taylor at his best. The facts are far more exciting than I ever knew. Scientists can even tell how smart you are from a brain scan now -- and need different ones for men and women! Searching the book title at first, I feared I'd heard him wrong and he was commenting on this 1967 tome of the same title

Shockley devoted much time, money, and energy trying to help people. But he and his message were despised and rejected, especially by the usual suspects. So the average IQ of all races has gone down and continues to drop. Shockley explained that this IQ drop was a mathematically inevitable result if the less intelligent members of any race reproduce at a higher rate than the more intelligent.

And he showed that the decline would be faster for blacks than for whites, because their low IQ / high IQ reproduction rate ratio was higher than that of whites.

Shockley was of course right. I've seen it in my lifetime.

No doubt about it. People want an "app" for everything.

In the corporate world -- which I'm out of, thankfully, but still have to deal with from time to time -- they have this software program called PowerPoint that they use for presentations. It's been all the rage for the last 20 years or so. With it people tend to spend more time making their presentation graphically spectacular than making the actual content useful and meaningful. I mention this because somebody wrote an article called "PowerPoint Makes You Stupid". Can't remember if that referred to the presenter or his victims.

When we were kids, my mother never let us watch a TV program that had a laugh track. She said it makes you stupid.

I was teaching when those white boards came out. And back then the markers were pretty flaky; they never seemed to work very well. When one would quit on me, I would chuck it at a student in the back row -- after making eye contact, of course, so he could duck, dodge, or deflect it.

Now that's well put. In particular the idea of moron Amurricans throwing one state-of-the-art techno-war after another on countries they can't find on a map is especially galling. I have to wonder if a reverse singularity will be reached -- the ppl too stupid to maintain and develop their toys any longer.
