NY Gov abruptly reverses stance on COVID-19 lockdowns

Just when America thought the political world couldnt possibly get any more confusing and ridiculous, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo proved us all wrong with a stunning announcement this week concerning the state of the COVID-19 crisis in his state.
According to Breitbart, with just nine days left of President Donald Trumps term in the White House, the New York governor announced that hes quitting his nearly year-long pro-lockdown crusade, writing in a tweet that the cost is too high to keep businesses in his state closed, even warning that many might never open again as a result.
With New York citizens experiencing some of the strictest lockdown measures in the midst of the pandemic, Cuomos sudden change of heart, unsurprisingly, took many by surprise.
We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass, Cuomo tweeted. The cost is too high. We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely.

That was more like late 70s. Gas prices spiked too, from about 75 cents to over $1 a gallon.
There was even 10 gallon limit too.
I can recall travelling in Oklahoma and they had gas wars going for 19 cents a gallon. ;)

The first one was in '73 (Arab oil embargo, Israel), the second was in '79 (don't remember why, Iran maybe?). The '79 was the one that sent gas over a buk, I think.

Not in my county. I guess we're going into "Code Red" tomorrow at midnight or something, whatever that means.
Code red, indeed. Red as in Commie China.
It's no wonder everybody being so nutted-up. If they could only see what I've seen...

sounds like you signed your name at the cross roads, learned to bend a string, takes an ear to hear the word, of those blues that you sing.

I wouldn't exactly characterize my life as such. I just tried to follow in my Dad's (d. 1976) footsteps in fighting the commies.
In hindsight, I should've been fighting the company that I contracted with.
Was that a poem or something?
(Edit) Search didn't help much. Has something to do with music (bending a string), my mind is wandering way back, maybe cartoons? Crows?
