He was indeed. He was the terror master behind the Bolsheviks. He and the NKVD were responsible for the extermination of tens of millions of Russians and Ukrainians in the Great Famine of the 1920s and 30s. Most of this was caused by the Bolsheviks collectivism.
I worked with a Ukrainian-American. He told me his Grandmother said they even raked out the root cellars. ;)

That's an interesting anecdote. I wonder if he was shot in the head as so may of his victims had been?
In the Katyn Forest the Polish officers were shot in the head by 6.35 Walther pistols which Germany had sold the the Soviets beforehand.
The Germans discovered the mass graves and called in Western reporters to show what had happened.
The victims were dressed in winter clothing and still had their identity papers on them.
Germany launched Operation Barbarossa on 22 June 1941. ;)
