Thanks for this even tho it's that insufferable edomite. I heard about this somewhere and have been looking to find the info again. Quite a powerful, damning commentary on The Good War, war generally and other things!

I'm sure most people involved think of it as just a conundrum that had to be solved, a need that had to be met somehow -- ppl are so shallow and un-filosofical even when pulling off techno-innovations like this.

Hiroshima, Nagasaki, how many bomb tests in the air before and since? How about the underground tests -- are they totally consequence-free? THANKS, s.o.
