Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, arguing the cable news giant falsely claimed in an effort to boost faltering ratings that the voting company had rigged the 2020 election.

It's not defamation of it can be proven to be true.

They seem to be playing with fire, because they could easily be open to criminal investigations if there's any truth to what has been reported.

As a news org, Fox enjoys some leeway, and simply reporting what others claim does not make Fox liable. That even if the claims were false. Dominion also might be considered fair game, to some extent, for political claims just as public figures lose much standing to sue like Trump can't sue when people made false claims about him. Dominion as a company is as much as a celebrity as, say, American Airlines was after 911.
