I don't know DeSantis very well. I am wary of people who belatedly jump in front of the parade. I recall Newt did that in '94-95 and led the parade into a blind alley.

Look how much dirt there was on him way back in 1986, before he'd even reached superstar status. And enjoy tons of other content in that issue -- the mag was unique (basically launched me as right-winger) and that was its best era.
I don't think De Santis is phony, but time will tell. What makes you think he's jumping in front of the parade? Hard to imagine any good politics coming out of Florida, it's true.
