In California it is all Mexican.

My sister in Chicago told me several years ago that Mexicans bought the house next door but they don't keep it up. What little money they make they are using to pay the mortgage and bills. I'll bet there is a strong odor of tortillas and other Mexican dishes wafting thru the air. ;)

Before I retired I was managing a warehouse for an E Commerce website in Silicon Valley. Recent California high school graduates do not understand the concept of an alphabet. If they had a product starting with a J, they do not understand that they need to go their left if they are in front of M.

One kid who worked with us a few years back got a job at the McD's here in town. He got fired for taking too many smoke breaks.

Smoking is a nasty habit that I am glad I never acquired. Just got my share of 2nd hand smoke in gin mills and night clubs. The good joints had smoke eaters.

When in High School, we went on field trip to Police H.Q. at 11th and State. One of the guys was smoking a cigarette. A cop walked up to him and told him, "Put that cigarette out!" He was too young to be smoking. ;)

The many evils of the cancer sticks! The idea it was ever allowed in public bldgs is incredible, but so's the extent to which it's now banned in 'em now -- something actually good the establishment's done, if for all the wrong reasons.

They used to allow guys to smoke outside on picnic benches a few years ago. Now they must go across the street and off the property to light up. ;)

Great! I hate smoking. The idea of it is really cool -- mastering fire in a small space, the social aspect, the jaded cultural motif, but in reality it's 100% terrible. The beautiful aroma of burning leaves soon stinks in the aftermath.

I worked with a guy who did 10 years for molesting an underage girl. He did the whole 10. No time off for good behavior. You know that once they found out why he was in there, the other cons didn't give him any rest.

His family used to live across the street from our workshop. He lived in a small trailer out front. In winter he slept with the dog. I am guessing they both kept each other warm. They moved out west to Oakton, which was far outside the area the taxi goes.

Now I hear he has moved to Texas. Exactly where it is hard to say. But where ever he lands he must report to the Sheriff every month since he is an ex con. Plus if he is a sex offender he is on an extra list.

I am so glad not to be in his shoes. ;)
