If you have a child in school there, they charge extra on your property taxes so your total comes to $12,000 plus per year. That was true some years ago the last time I spoke to someone from the Garden state.

$12k taxes would be on the modest one-bathroom home I grew up in in extremely undistinguished Fanwood -- and I suspect that's an out-of- date figure that doesn't take any kids into consideration ;)
